Excellent read as the story of cloning and “mad scientists” continues. Kids still missing all connecting the previous missing children, experiments, cloning, secrets and strange people of evil and secret shenanigans to duplicate children via cloning.

“Bone Cold” by Debra Webb has a story line that grabs readers and takes them on a trip through the lives of families whose children have been abducted. The key protagonist Lt. Sarah Cuddahy is the lead investigator and she hasn’t a clue as to the children’s whereabouts. Sarah knows what questions to ask. They are the same questions she answered during the investigation of the abduction of her own daughter.Debra Webb introduces her readers to the horrors parents experience as they deal with the abduction of their children. The pace of the plot increases with the turn of each page. Webb shows us and helps us understand what motivates Lt. Sarah Cuddahy as she proceeds in her search for the missing children.Readers see Webb developing the story’s mystery, suspense and intrigue. Each new clue quickens the pace of the plot. When Sarah’s boss asks her to work with her estranged husband she is reluctant as she sees in Tom’s eyes the truth to the loss of Sophia their daughter. Tom is sure the case he is investigating will help find the missing children. He needs Sarah’s help. Sarah and Tom set out to follow a new direction for the investigation. As the story progresses, we find key support characters both protagonists and antagonists and their back stories explain their role in Webb’s spell binding mystery.“Bone Cold’s” intriguing plot changes direction several times. Webb places readers on the shoulders of Sarah and Tom and they see the investigation through their eyes. Their investigation involves secrets of scientific experiments, manipulation of people, murder, taking of hostages, rogue investigators, corrupt politics, power, control, and romance.Webb helps her readers understand Sarah’s commitment to find the missing children and to uncover who is behind the kidnappings. Webb is a master of taking her readers into uncharted waters on social issues and then delivers an unpredictable ending. Sarah and Tom are forced to work together on a missing children case. Tom is FBI and Sarah is local police. They are also still married, although Sarah wants a divorce. Their own daughter went missing five years ago so the case opens a lot of old wounds and intense determination.Webb takes us through what is believed to be a mystifying series of none lies that lead away from the usual children taken for human trade.As we begin to see the worst as the probable outcome, new insights lead to a horrifying ending. Or does it. People who seem as allies, aren't, and people who don't seem to care, do.This was a one morning read for me. Couldn't put it down.

A riveting thriller. It was very hard to put down. A nice thriller to keep you busy reading, especially after the first one. One to make you wonder if it’s really happening in the world!

I like this author's writing, but book #1 was much better. This book spent too much time on Tom and Sarah's past rather than figuring out how to find the villain.

This story is a fitting end to the first book Bone Deep. It makes me think of the horrors we are facing as the realities of AI surface. Good read.

I loved this book. I read book 1 and enjoyed it so much that as soon as I finished it, I started on this one and couldn’t put it down
