Q: Can you use it if you take the yolk out?

You would have to put the whole boiled egg ( with yolk ) in the mold. After a few hours or overnight, the white will have the marks from the molds. Then you can cut it open and take the yolks out.

Q: Are theses Dishwasher safe?

I don't think so.. It's thin plastic. I recommend to hand wash only.

Q: where are these manufactured?

I’m thinking China. The seller has a Chinese address.

Q: Why did the plastic chip away on the first use?

Mine are good, nothing happened when we use it..just don't push to hard when using..
