QIDI Max4 Combo 3D Printer, 390×390×340mm Build Volume, 65℃ Heated Chamber

I have to give this printer 5 stars. I came from A Sovol SV06 plus, had a good experience with it so when upgrade time came I bought a SV08. The Sovol came and immediately had bed level issues, but that's okay I worked through them only to have frame issues. Again that's fine I straightened it and kept chugging along, then it started throwing electric errors. So I sent it back to Amazon for a refund. I used that refund (and a little extra) to buy this Max4. The Qidi printer has been night and day compared to the Sovol. Assembly was super simple, you pull the box off around it and plug it in the screen will guide you how to unpack, and will go right into calibration. I had mentally prepared to have to do some manual tinkering, thinking thats just what you do with 3d printers. I was totally wrong. It did its stuff for setup and away we went. The Qidi box can be a little loud when loading but I was excited to try color printing. After an obligatory benchy, I printed a 2 day full color pokemon for my wife. It came out great even with all the poops. The software works fine on the screen, but i prefer the web interface. Also found out it doesnt like to play nice between the box and orca, thats fine ill use Qidi studio and it does what I needed. I decided to move and change instead of color I mostly use the box to change filament when a roll runs out. I do lots of different cosplay stuff, and decided i wanted to use ABS and othet engineering materials which thebheated chamber and hotend are more than capable of. I installed am industrial filtration system and its been printing almost nonstop since. In just over a month ive put more than 5 kilometers of filament through it. I had a new issues with warping but that's probably one out of 30 prints once I got it dialed in, the bed is flat as a soda pop left out overnight. It hasn't clogged on my me a single time, the only failure I had is when the filament snapped inside the system. It didn't clog just kept trying to print nothing, was not a big deal. Ive noticed some filaments tend to stick too well to the bed, I would recommend using a release agent I use hairspray. Ive been printing an infamous ironman suit that I can swap the helmet to become Dr Doom, and this printer has elevated my entire workflow and got me back into 3d printing. The build volume is generous enough you can print full sized helmets no sweat. In fact i printed so much my silicone sock degraded and became brittle, it shattered wheb i swaoped the nozzle. When you put 6 months to a year of printing on a machine in less than a month the silicone is bound to degrade, they are consumables after all. Overall this printer has been amazing and any issues that come up Qidi is very responsive, that is night and day vs Sovol as well. You are more likely to get ghosted by Sovol as they move onto their new printers, Qidi is the opposite of that and will bend over backwards to get your machine running as it should.

My Max4 absolutely delivered the best ownership experience of any 3d printer I've ever owned. Here are my reasons: 1) the delivery was perfect, carefully packed and easy to open, arrived with no damage 2) Other than the weight, the setup was so easy, no manual leveling, no printer paper clearance tests, no fiddling with anything, just turned it on & let it do it's thing 3) I emailed the Max4 team a few random questions on nozzles availability, accessories, just random stuff & they always reply, it's the next day & I've got answers from them that actually recognize my questions-not ai, just i. 4) this thing prints like a dream. I load filament, feed the Max4 my file, & it prints. No brimstone, no rafts, no fiddling with the z heights, it just works. Its amazing. I see people say prints stick too hard or other issues - since I plugged this in I've had 1 blockage probably from my use of 5yr old wood pla that was full of moisture & that took about 10 minutes to fix & was from my poor judgment. Want to print clockspring toasters in petg? no problem. Print in place models? no problem. This is the best, most accurate, easiest to use, 3d printer I've ever seen & it prints big stuff. This printer is actually a printer. If you like to tinkerer with settings & spend all day doing calibration so you can print a test cube, het something else. I like to design & print, not calibrate & fiddle with the tool. My Max4 is awesome. I'd buy two if I had the room.

I had the Plus4 for a while, my first 3D printer, talk about a steep learning curve, it failed at everything, the first day it literally almost destroyed the PEI plate with grooves, it would not Z, it would not print what you picked, it would print the wrong filament from the box, it would clog the nozzle, had to use a propane torch to clean it, etc, etc….but by learning from the Qidi community and Youtube videos and the incredible help and support from Qidi customer service, i learned how to conquer all those issues, until now its working perfectly, became a master of the bed leveling setup, the adhesion of all prints and all filaments…I went with Qidi because on paper it was what I wanted, an engineering filament and large size printer and best of all, open source, thats why I went with Qidi instead of Bambu. After all of that i figured I could then feel confortable in spending the money for the Max4, knowing that Qidi support would be there if I needed it. Figured i was in for my second steep learning curve, but was eager to tackle it. That thing was big and heavy, had to build a huge heavy table for it. What a pleasant surprise, no more Z problems, or scraping plate problems, it just worked great. Only had a couple of issues, the nozzle that came with it broke in the middle by the ceramic part, and oozed through the sides of their heating element destroying it, it must have been in shipping, but Qidi sent me a new one right away, so the customer support was there and just as good as with the Plus4. In essence the only problems I occasionally have, are with the Qidi Box, making it work with the both the Plus4 and the Max4 is a hit and miss, sometimes they sync with Qidi Studio, sometimes they dont, sometimes they start the wrong filament instead of the one I chose, wether picked in my computer or on the printers LED screen. But printing is awsome, quality is awsome….we got a 3D scanner at work, scanned a very complicated piece, took days to scan it completely, the printer at work failed a couple of prints of it, then did a mediocre job of one, so i brought the USB home and did it on the Max4, it came out flawless. Very happy with Qidi, very happy with Customer support, second to none, the Creality at work took 2 weeks to get an answer on a part number we needed, Qidi SENDS you the part the next day with a tracking number…..very happy with the Plus4 and beyond happy with the Max4….cant wait for a Max5 and a multi head printer from Qidi.

This baby is practically the size of a kitchen oven! Its almost ridiculous. Even better, it works like a dream!! No issues, i started printing right out of the box. And been great every day. My only complaint, the 4filament magazine on top. Lots of room for improvement. Needs an actual dryer, retracting filament often causes the spool to spin slower than the retraction. Which makes a tangle when trying to print multiple colors. It also doesn't automatically switch to another spool once the current spool runs out. Besides that, its a dream come true!!

This is my first foray into 3D printing. The packing was meticulous - almost too meticulous, in fact. The printing (with PETG) is solid once everything is up and running. Getting up and running had many pain points. The packaging was meticulous -- almost too meticulous. The instructions were a bit sparse. Specifically, I would like to see more drawings and a more comprehensive manual. There is a single engineering drawing in the Quick Start guide, of the print head. A machine this complex will have parts that wear and need regular maintenance -- assuming company respects the customer's long term investment and not just "making the sale". It would be great to see a diagramatic list of all maintence components and what to do and how often: "Oil this bar with xyz every abc hours of operation", "replace this", etc. Accessing the nozzle wiper is tricky. For now, the printer operates very well and is a tremendous asset. We will see how it holds up over time.

The Max 4 was all it was said to be. Easy operation and great prints. I did have a bed heating issue and found that the control board for the bed and chamber temp control had gone bad. I contacted customer support and Linda quickly had a new control board on the way. I installed the new board and it worked like new. I appreciate the fast response and quick resolution to my problem. I highly recommend the Max4. And Linda at support was excellent. Thank you QIDI.

Incredibly disappointing experience. I have never been so infuriated by a brand-new piece of tech. I spent hours carefully unboxing this massive machine, pulling out the custom molded foam, and setting everything up with peak excitement. I ran the initial setup, put my premium PETG-CF filament into the top multi-spool box, and hit load for my very first print. It has never successfully printed or extruded a single millimeter of plastic.The toolhead arrived with a severe internal factory assembly defect. The moment the filament reached the print head, the internal drive gears completely failed to catch or feed it properly. Instead, the mechanism violently locked up, leaving me with nothing but a gut-wrenching, metal-on-plastic click... click... click... and a bright error screen on my first attempt.The internal gear channel is jammed so tightly from the factory that a 1.5mm tool cannot pass more than 2cm into the head before hitting a solid mechanical wall. The tolerances are completely off, or the internal tension arm arrived cracked from production. Even the quick-release PTFE sheath became permanently bound up from the internal mechanical pressure.I shouldn't have to pull out tools and perform a complete teardown on a premium, brand-new machine before it has ever laid down its first layer. This is an absolute joke for quality control. Packing this massive jigsaw puzzle back into its box for an immediate Amazon pickup refund.

I got this printer specifically because of the large print area and let me tell you, this printer is huge, in a good way, and worked wonderfully right out of the box. The attached pictures show a print almost max out the print area. And this was maybe only 2 days after unboxing and learning the software and printing only a few test pieces. I had never owned or used a 3d printer before this. I did have an issue with one of the case components, but it did not effect the printing, and was mostly cosmetic, but Linda from QIDI customer service was still quick and responsive and sent a replacement immediately. The swap went smoothly and I was able to continue printing without issue. I've printed numerous different sized pieces now, and except for some user error sometimes, they've all printed almost perfectly without adjusting any settings. And after doing some calibration tests, the prints got even better. It also connected to my computer and home network easily and quickly and maintained connection reliably, for wirelessly uploading prints from my computer. At this price point, the size and performance honestly blew me away, and I would highly recommend the QIDI Max 4 to anyone wanting to 3D print. Big or small.
