Diamonds and Pearls Hardcover – June 15, 2013

In many ways "Diamonds & Pearls" is simply another entry in the rather crowded genre of naked-girl-in-palace. The theme is absolutely everywhere: hard-core porn, soft-core T&A, and cliché "daring" fashion editorials. Marc Lagrange adds in some of his images done in alternative photo processes, but pretty much hewing to the thread. But overall, Lagrange hangs back away from the confrontational stuff we encounter in current non-porn nude. So in that way, the book is "safe." It is also "safe" in the sense that it's almost all white girls -- a couple of frames of non-white models, one of which is helpfully labeled "Black Flower." (Are we really NOT supposed to notice, in this era, the exclusivity of such a large collection?)In "Diamonds & Pearls," though, "safe" doesn't embrace "boring." In nearly every image, Lagrange and the model(s) portrayed make a connection. And the connection reaches right out of the image. There's immediacy, tension, that wonderful sense of a word about to be spoken or a gesture about to unfold. That connection is anything but universal in glamor shots and requires talent and timing in both the photographer and the model. That connection here lifts the suffocating blanket of cliché in which the book is wrapped, and makes almost every image a worthwhile and sexy meditation.

Marc Lagrange is one of the most prominent erotic photographers, and he does not disappoint in this collection. His books are very limited in print, and I would highly recommend getting this while the supplies last! The book is of fantastic quality, with high saturation prints that are rich and not overly shiny, and the photographs themselves are fantastically beautiful and melancholic in some angles. The juxtaposition of sexuality, emotion, and the raw passion of nudity is all represented in a dark setting, which amplifies not only the models, but the fact that desires can often be illuminated in dark settings through proper exposure (no pun intended). While the title suggests all glitter, the depth and breadth of the photographic talent Lagrange exudes is stunning. Highly recommended!

This is an interesting book, full of enticing images. Not all approach Art, as far as photography is concerned, yet many succeed. If you are a photographer or an Artist, you should buy this book. If you are an Aristocrat; a Master of Industrial Concerns, or a seeker of opening the doors of perception, or a common peep-show pervert for that matter, you should buy this book. A helpful how-to book to help set the mood and feel to film, photograph or most importantly participate in your Own Witches Ritual of the mind, in Ultra Purple tones of the Monarch. Buy it now while you can - gorgeous book, the photos and previews here do not do it justice. VERY large and very heavy book, EXTREMELY good printing quality, photos included in this are hauntingly beautiful and will definitely make this a valuable book in aftermarket trading once it's out of print.ALSO, it's a very heavy book, so the first copy I received was badly damaged in shipping, Amazon shipped a replacement right away and I have to give them excellent marks for replacing the damaged book so quickly.

I thoroughly enjoy this book. Opens up a world of possibilities. Has inspired me to create a whole new body of work.

I love his work and this book, but I’m giving one star in hopes someone helps out because there is no way to contact Marc or anyone to show them that 1 of the 2 books I ordered has poor print.. not what you expect from a $75 luxurious art book :(

Delivery was prompt, on opening the bottom edge corner of binder was slightly damaged, which was abit disappointing. The book content itself is really stunning, If you are a fan of Marc Lagrange you will see some of his best images here. I was pleasantly surprised at the size of the book. There's plenty of images to frame if you choose this option as some images are blank on the next page. I have ordered & received a second book in perfect condition which I will keep to look through. I will order again the same book for christmas gifts for friends that I know will love this book & from the same seller.

Wie meine Vorredner bin auch ich, genau wie mein Mann, der sich seit geraumer Zeit mit Leidenschaft der Fotografie widmet, von diesem Buch restlos begeistert. Wie das bei passionierten (Hobby-) Fotografen üblich sein dürfte, schmücken bereits diverse Bildbände über Aktfotografie unser Bücherregal, aber dieser hier stellt sie alle in den Schatten.Ich bin kein Freund von Wiederholungen des bereits mehrfach auf z.T. sehr ausführliche und anschauliche Weise Dargestellten.Aber es gilt doch nochmals hervorzuheben, mit welch faszinierenden Inszenierungen der Künstler die in der Tat voll in ihrer Rolle aufgehenden Models sehr ästhetisch und erotisch darstellt, ohne dabei je anzüglich oder dem weiblichen Körper gegenüber respektlos zu erscheinen. Wer aus Erfahrung einzuschätzen vermag, wie viel dazu gehört und wie viel Zeit, Mühe und Arbeit, sowohl von Fotografen- als auch von Modelseite aus, investiert werden muss, bis solche Fotos in dieser Qualität entstanden sind, weiß diese Arbeiten umso mehr zu schätzen.Fazit: Nicht nur für Menschen, die die Fotografie vor oder hinter der Kamera aktiv betreiben, ein Genuss in jeder Hinsicht!
