Want to be a little bit more like Sherlock Holmes? The Deduction Guide will provide you with an alternate way of perceiving your surroundings, and allow you begin to make deductions about people and objects. The majority of the book is devoted to ways to read the world, including examples in a wide variety of topics, such as body language, clothing and other belongings, in the spirit of Sherlock Holmes. Upon reading this book, you will be able to identify if someone is liberal or conservative based on their eyes, a person’s values from their bedroom or living room, and what a person is feeling based on the position of their legs, among many other things. Review: Wonderfully concise and direct - Wonderfully concise and direct, with extensive Resources and References to both lend credibility and encourage further exploration into this fascinating discipline. (As the back of the book indicates, this guide is not for the more practiced observer so much as the aspirational beginner.) The conversational tone (and perhaps a grammatical error or two) may take devout literary scholars a few pages to adapt to, but Ms Blackwood knows what she is talking about and the approachability of the text only proves to be an asset when one attempts to put the techniques into practice. Overall I can easily recommend this volume to anyone interested in learning more about the world around them and desiring to experience it more fully. Review: I learned something - Quick and easy read, informative. I learned a couple of things I didn't know before. The author died a good job of introducing a lot of material and making it easy to understand. Read and enjoy!

Pocket Size Fun
Pretty good - nice size - easy to carry in pocket or purse! Most of the material has appeared in one form or another in other tomes, but the pocket size makes it fun to carry and read while waiting . . . .

Ok for beginners
This is a beginners guide to deduction. It's a small pocket type book but not worth the price. I was disappointed when I got it. It has several typos and grammatical errors. There are better books on Amazon if you really want to think like Sherlock Holmes.

Great introduction to the subject.
I quite enjoyed this book, expected it to be a bit bigger but nonetheless I think it is a very good introduction to the subject of observation and deduction. For people just starting to dig into the subject I recommend highly as it is very comprehensive. Onto the next book!

Basically what the title says - this is an EXCELLENT basic introduction to deduction. Explains things very well, uses examples, etc.!

A great beginning for deductive reasoning
Small and short, and doesn't make you think like Sherlock Holmes by the end of the book, but no book can do that. But this book does a good job of opening up your eyes to the world around you to start you on your way to be like him.

Excellent Read!
This book is an excellent read and has helped me with induction/deduction. It's only more of a beginners guide but when you read it once you tend to lose the information quickly so I recommend reading a few times through.

Good introduction
As an introduction to deduction, this book is fine and offers some good tips. However, I would have liked it more if it had a more analytical approach. The writing is somewhat informal, which makes it seem less a science and more a bunch of semi-coherent tips. That being said, if you're interested in Sherlock Holmes' methods, I do recommend picking this up. It's good value for the money.
