Using this for a headless display for my Sunshine/Moonlight gaming rig. Works perfectly; the output can go up to 4K depending on the device I'm streaming from and it does not get super hot when used for a long time. I would recommend to anyone who has use for a headless display dummy plug; I think this is worth the price that's being charged.

Works great, just plug it in. Using it on an HP Mini with Proxmox, and also tested on a GPU for cloud streaming instead of using a virtual adapter just to ease things. Good build quality.

These are sometimes required if you have a "headless" server without a local monitor. I had an old Dell desktop that I was using as a server without a monitor, and it just refused to allow me to change the display resolution when accessing it remotely. This fixed it without batting an eye. It's discreet and simple, and I have no problem recommending this.

This is an HDMI dummy plug plain and simple. It basically plugs into an HDMI port and tricks your server into thinking there is a monitor attached to it. Why on Earth would anyone want to do this? Doing so keeps the system from disabling aspects of the display such as the GPU and as a result some features like remote access behave exactly as they would if a real monitor was attached. This is super useful in scenarios like a headless server that you access via remote desktop for example. I use these with my astrophotography setup. I have a mini-PC from MeLE that I use to integrate all the data systems at the scope. I then use Windows RDP client to access the server remotely. With two of these dummy plugs I get dual screen remote desktop with high resolution and fidelity. Works really (REALLY) well! Build quality is excellent. The connector seems to be of good quality and the construction is solid. I verified all the modes on the product details page are supported. Be warned these do use a bit of power and can get quite hot. This is to be expected and is not a problem with the product itself. Overall this is a great HDMI dummy plug at a great price and depending on your application I am sure you will be very pleased with it. Oh yeah, be warned it ships in a small envelope and if it arrives with other items from Amazon it would be easy to throw away with the packing materials. That's what I did but fortunately found it on the floor near my desk. Lesson learned!

BKFK HDMI Dummy Plug, Virtual Monitor EDID Emulator, came in a small zip pouch. As pictured with a gold plated HDMI plug. Measures 3/4" x 1" x 5/16" WxDxH with the connectors. Sticks out 5/8" when plugged in. Has the EDID settings printed on the housing, defaults to 1920x1080@60Hz. There's a small blue LED at the end which lights up when active. Plug and play, automatically recognized, no drivers requires. Shows up as Generic PnP Monitor DISPLAY\FUE3840\4&1BEAE69&2&UID214595. Display BKFK 1080240 selectable resolutions from 640x480 to 1920x1080/120Hz, recommended 1920x1080@60Hz. My computer HDMI is only version 1.4 so it can only do 4K@30Hz. This dummy plug only seems to support 4K@60Hz, so the option doesn't show up. Needed a dummy plug for a server that I accesses remotely to keep it active. This plug works by acting as a virtual monitor. Works fine with many selectable resolutions and high refresh rates at 1080p up to 240Hz, limited 4K rates.

My desktop PC graphics card has three displayport and one HDMI inputs. I have two monitors connected to two of the displayports. I first wanted to see what the HDMI Dummy Plug does in my desktop. So, with my desktop shut down, I plug it into the HDMI input (see picture). It's to the left with the LED lit. I booted up and both my monitors stayed dark. Since the dummy plug supports hot swapping, I pulled it out and my two monitors immediately came to life. I suspect the recognition of a new configuration during boot, resulted in the HDMI dummy monitor identified as display #1 and designated as "main", with the other two monitors not yet configured. My two monitors are numbered 1 and 2. I put the dummy plug back it, and it renumbered my monitors 2 and 3, with the dummy monitor numbered 1. But this time it left my monitors configured as they were previously. Therefore, if you wish to check it out on your PC, don't do what I did! Instead, just plug it in to a free HDMI input while the PC is up and running. The HDMI dummy plug does exactly what's claimed in the specified default configuration.

Not sure what the problem is, because other reviewers did not seem to have an issue. But when I plug in this emulator, the system does not recognize it as a device. I tried plugging it in before powering up, and also after powering up, but either way it is not recognized. Maybe I got a bad one, but the bottom line is this device has not performed as intended or described.
