21 Inch Leather Duffel Bag

Impressive, within limits, and price. This [same(?) or vastly-similar] bag is sold by several vendors— at least it *appears so— so I went with the lower price, sized within carry-on regs. Kamal *may simply be rebranding (for which I commend their sourcing), but they could leave off with the fabric bag, and the leather nameplate sewn inside could just be burned into the surface. It looks somewhat lux, appears well-made, hardware seems durable (tho I’d prefer solid brass), straps go around the bottom and wear points are riveted, but I’ll expect to replace the zipper pull tabs. Yes, it came well-wrapped, all hardware came covered. It appears to be goatskin, which is *tough (natural drum-heads are ALL goat), tho the dye layer is very thin. To reiterate another reviewer, you have to realize THIS IS A CANVAS BAG SEWN WITH THIN GOATSKIN. The inner canvas is coarse, true but acceptable, and the leather thickness is adequate BECAUSE it’s goatskin. The thick shoulder strap appears to be full grain on one side (mine shows a few “features”, no worries), tho positioning of the pad is curiously best *under the buckle. The inner pocket is tiny; the outer pocket expands, but should not contain valuables in Naples or in urban crowds. Jussayin. [IMHO, straps on airport luggage should contain a metal cable.] THE AROMA IS STRONG IN THIS ONE— *NOT the “good smell of a leather shop”); it was almost overwhelming on delivery! I left it outdoors for a day and it subsided, but was still *pungent, so I tested Fabreeze Extra Strength on the bottom. This, after drying, had NO visible effect on the (non-waterproof) leather, so I pretty much saturated the entirety with Fabreeze and put dryer sheets in the pockets. After *completely drying, the malodor was lessened — and might resolve in time. The REAL CURE was when I next day applied Leather Therapy Restorer and Conditioner (which is first choice for many saddlers here in CO), which softens the leather —without being greasy or sticky (beware others). The primary reason for this is that I’ll use it at the gym (always potentially incurring wetness), and this stuff inhibits mold and mildew! I’ll thus probably waterproof the bottom, [I SHOULD have (first) rubbed the bottom with silicone grout sealant from Home Depot, which will be very resistant to water]. Make certain to get the leather inner seams and inside the front pocket. The Leather Therapy somewhat darkens the leather to almost a “tobacco” patina, feels great. For the price, overall —and with 45 mins work— this can’t be beat!

I leave a lot of reviews, but they are usually short and to the point. With this product, however, I felt it worthwhile to go in to some more detail. First of all... if the smell of the bag bothers you, I cannot imagine you have ever purchased a fine leather product. This is how quality leather smells. Not leather that has been chemically treated, etc. I also want to point out I am a luggage snob. All my other luggage is Tumi. I was in search of something a little smaller and easier to use on a weekend OR 2-3 night driving work trip. I was prepared to pay much more for a bag, but the reviews got me to give it a shot. Hell... I could have bought 3-4 of this bag for the price this bag should cost. Unwrapping the bag I knew this was not something made in mass quantities in China. There was attention to detail to protect the leather and each metal buckle. Also a very nice card from the seller. My first impression was the bag was too small. I am a large man - 6’2” and wear a 2-3XL and size 13 shoes. No way this bag could hold a long weekend of clothing. I was wrong. I recently did a 3-night trip and it held everything easily - and that included a pair of those 13s. The end pockets also hold a toiletries bag and ample room for other items. It is just perfect. If I had one request, it would be for a over the shoulder strap that was more easily adjustable... but I am not sure that would be possible with the rugged, classic look this bag has... it just feels like a bag my grandfather could have travelled across the country with by train. So classically designed yet functional.

Absolutely beautiful! It is very roomy, well made with excellent quality zippers, pulls and straps. It says it has been treated with oil, but I put a good coat of mink oil on it and it looks fantastic. Should work wonderfully as a carry on or for a short weekend trip. It is made of excellent quality leather and the craftsmanship is beautiful. My only complaint ifk you want to call it that, is that I wish it had feet on the bottom to protect it when put down. My husband was very impressed and is now going to buy one for himself. Highly recommend!

This bag far exceeded my expectation for the price. I found one at Deluth Trading and wanted a leather carry on but they were in the high $300s. This one feels thicker, stronger, and all around better made than the well known companies. It’s the perfect size for a quick business trip or a weekend in the mountains.

Detailed woth personal opinions: The bag arrived I opened it up and had to let it take shape, once I did. Oh my was it a beautiful sight! Its colors is different from the bag on the website it's a lighter color. In my opinion I still really enjoy the color even thought it is slightly different. I also love the exact sizing of it because it's fits exactly what I need when I go on trips. I did not fly with it yet so can not verify the TSA carry-on sizes. The zippers are covered in plastic and so are pretty much any metals definitely feels good.to know the seller cares that much. I sincerely love the fact the personal letter was a beautiful touch! Felt nice reading it, thank you. Summary review: Quality leather, space is good for a few outfits over night and storage with atleast 7 days worth of clothes if you fold them properly. The color is different than picture it's lighter, side pockets are perfect for any kind of notebook storage, middle is great for passport rfid holders. I bought a few different bags for comparison before choosing a keeper. This was quite good, but I wound up keeping a different one because it was comparable quality, but cheaper. I bought 5 similar leather overnight bags for comparison, and this one was by far the worst. It looked cheap, the material was stiff, and it did not look like it would improve with age. The handles were clearly not rolled leather inside, and had "breaks" between whatever was used to stuff them. I'm not even totally sure it was real leather. It looked and felt like bad fake leather. They were beautiful dark cognac brown and had nice thick leather. The straps came with a shoulder pad and seemed to be sewed on very securely. I will say the straps seemed a little stiffer than the rest of the bag, and may need to be replaced after a few years, but these bags felt like they would last for a decade. The leather also had natural distressing that I think will look better with age, rain drops, jostling, etc. It would be nice if the buckles were magnetic instead of requiring actual buckling/unbuckling (i'll sacrifice a little security for convenience, personally), but that was not an option on any of the bags. It seemed like more stuff would fit in the rectangular bag, and that it would stay more organized that it would in the cylindrical bag. Like all of the bags, this had a green velvet interior. The zippers seemed sturdy. I didn't love that they were black and seemed to stand out quite a bit, but it wasn't a huge deal. The leather was lighter than the other bags, but not in a washed-out way. Of all the bags, I actually think this leather will improve the most with battering and age. Leather was supple (though not as supple as the Komal's) and thick. It actually seemed a little thicker than the Komal's and might hold up better over the long term, but both brands made bags that will last years and years. I decided not to keep this one because I didn't want to have to undo the buckle for the flap over the front every time I needed something, though I thought the flap looked awesome and I liked that it hid the zippers, but like I said, inconvenience is big for me. The main dealbreaker here was that the bag was too small for anything other than a short overnight. I am a girl that likes to have a few outfit options when I travel, and this just didn't seem like it would fit much. Plus there were no big pockets for organization. --$73 ---**** 4 Stars Handmadecraft "Byto" Genuine Leather Travel Shoulder Holdall Vintage Bag Unisex Brown A beautiful bag that was extremely similar to the rectangular Komal’s. Hoenstly it was basically the exact same except for a couple minor things. It was a little lighter in color, and the leather felt like it might be a tiny bit thinner (but it may just be that the lining on the Komal’s was thicker). The strap on the one also was the only one that didn’t come with a shoulder pad. I incrementally preferred the color of the Komal’s, but this is the one I ended up keeping. Update: I'd buy this bag again and again... because I dont need to. 4 years later and I still love it like the day it arrived. I use it about 10 times a year and it has held up perfectly. No issues with any zippers or buckles. There is a lot of junk to sift through for stuff like this on Amazon. Stop looking and just buy this one. I use it for 3 to 5 day trips and rarely ever feel like I'm maxing it out. I usually have to travel with a laptop, so it does tag team with my backpack, but I've still have NEVER checked a bag while flying. That combo got me comfortably through a week in Cancun. It fits so easily on planes. Zero issues, zero regrets. Original: As others have mentioned, this seller is awesome! If all other things are equal, buy here. I was a bit skeptical on the color from the picture. But I am pleased how it looks out of the package and can't wait for it to age some. The bag feels solid. My first inspection found now craftsmanship issues and I think this bag is exactly what I needed to ditch the awkward roller when flying for work. I gave up a bit of size, but I knew that and can offset what little I sacrificed by breaking out my computer backpack from college. With nominal accessories, my sample packing fit 3 pairs of clothes and a jacket with easy. I am confident I can throw in a pair of shoes as well. All without rolling the clothes. So if you are like me and just need something to get you to a work meeting and back in good shape, I think this bag will serve you nicely. You have to spend this much for a good rolling case anyway, so if you can handle slinging it over your shoulders (the bag felt comfortable on first impression), why not grab something with character to? Yes, it smells a little. I'd be worried if it didn't when it got here. I will update if I discover any issues. But I am pleased.

Aber jetzt riecht es nur noch leicht nach Leder. Aber eine sehr gut verarbeitete Tasche. Sowohl Farbe als auch Schneiderei. Sehr zufrieden mit dem Kauf. Nur zum empfelen.

Honestly love this bag. I've been trying to migrate from my backpack or suitcase when I'm just travelling for a night or two. This product has solved that issue while looking great. Looks: Really high quality leather and the canvas on the inside is high quality too. There were quite a big of loose strands of canvas when I got it, but I was able to get them out easily in about 2 minutes. The leather looks like it will age really well and give a nice distinctive vintage aged look. Smell: Yes there is a smell. It kinda smells like a farm if you've ever been around one. However, I opened up all the pockets, put a few dryer sheets in and put a fan on it for a while and the smell was practically gone by the first time I used it. The smell is not overpowering and you shouldn't let it sway your decision to buy this product. If anything it shows that it is real quality leather. Functionality: Side pockets are great for an extra pair of shoes or a hygiene kit. The main compartment can easily hold enough clothes for a weekend and a few extras just in case. I use the front strap pocket for my phone charger or something I may need easily accessible. Overall I highly recommend this to anyone who has been trying to find a quality weekend bag without destroying their bank account.

I bought this bag for a weekend away and it was perfect. It looks very elegant, the size was just right, the construction is great, and it even comes with a letter signed by the manufacturer. It has two pockets on the side that are the height of the bag but pretty narrow. They were great for my iPad, charging cables, and small toiletries. There is also a front pocket that's pretty small and narrow, but it worked great for small items I wanted easy access to (hand sanitizer, mask, etc.). Lastly, there is a small pocket inside with a zipper that was great for more small items. Honestly, this could be a $300 bag because of the leather and construction, so it is a steal for the prize. I highly recommend it.
