Who doesn't need a pith helmet? I do a lot of costuming and cosplay and when I see an interesting item that I might need in the future, I snap it up. This item fell into that category. It's very well made and solid. It's not made of pith as the originals were, but it looks like it. It's also very large and I wasn't too happy with that since it fell off, but look inside. I show a photo of the Velcro strap inside that can be pulled in to create a smaller space inside the hat for your head. With this adjusted properly it stays on very well. I don't think it will pull tight enough for a child's head but for any adult this will work great. I haven't worn it in the weather but I bet it will repel rain and the brim is wide enough to keep water from dripping down your back. It has holes around the top to let air move through. A great hat for costumes or protecting your head from sun and rain.

These are a fun, surprisingly well-made set of pith helmets. The straw is lightweight and breathable, and the built-in ventilation keeps them from feeling stuffy even outside on warmer days. The adjustable inner band helped them fit comfortably and stay put without squeezing, and they look great for gardening, hiking, fishing, or any “safari/explorer” themed event. They are a little pricey, but you can tell they’re higher quality than a lot of novelty hats—sturdy, comfortable, and nicely finished. If you want a breathable sun hat with a classic adventurer vibe (and you like that you’re getting two), this set is a solid buy.
