I bought this for the elementary students I’m mentoring in phonemic awareness skills. I have a few older kids who grew up in a primarily Spanish speaking household and are still struggling with what it means to rhyme and games are the best way to get students engaged in their own skill progression. I wish this game had more options-the boards are small and there is only ONE matching tiles in ALL the different bingo boards. It’s very disheartening to students and doesn’t make sense for smaller groups of kids. Still a tool I’ll use, but I wish I would have looked longer for a better rhyming game

This is an ok game. My daughter has a learning disability, and while very smart, has never grasped the concept of rhyming. She is 7. I hoped this would help. PROs: The quality of the pieces is very good. Nice thick coated cardboard, so no bending or tearing. Pictures are bright and clear. Words are in an easy-to-read font. CONs: There are supposed to be 4 different Bingo cards. Mine only had 3 different ones - the 4th was a duplicate card, so it is worthless. That leaves only 3 to play the game with. Six pictures/words on each card means 6 of the “tokens” are therefore worthless. So we ended up only having 18 playing pieces and 3 cards. After playing the game twice, my daughter had the matches memorized, so there was no “rhyming” work going on. Also, another downside is that the words included are also words that are spelled exactly the same (not just sounding the same). For instance, Boat and Coat or House and Mouse, and the words are printed under the pictures, so all the child has to do is match the letters “oat” and they know coat and boat go together. There’s no need to hear the sounds, which is where my daughter struggles, and where I’d hoped this game would help and provide practice for. It’s ok for what it is - a great quality item with critical pieces missing - but it’s not at all what I was looking for.
