Throughly enjoyable!m… great descriptions of New York City. Also Sicily and the thought process of the Sicilian mind. Review: A Workmanlike Final Novel of The Godfather Trilogy - This is the third of The Godfather Trilogy. It is ok but in reality my least favorite of the three. I liked The Godfather the most and The Sicilian second. This was authored near the end of the author’s life and I wish to be respectful. I can’t help but wonder if Mister Puzo had more time if he might have changed some of this. Some of it was very good, but I felt some of it was just workmanlike and generally forgettable. I have no need to read this particular novel a second time. Thank you for taking the time to read this review.

Enlightening
Mafia at its best. Great ending to a terrific series. It was good to branch out from the Corleones. I know it is fiction but, I also know the US Mafia alive and well. Not all Mafias are Italian.

Filling in the times between and after the films
I am and have been a Mario Puzo fan. I had read The Godfather when it was first published; however, I had not read the two successive novels until recently. What a treat! Having seen (and recorded) all three movies, and realizing that each is not a copy of the other, I have to say to those who are considering purchasing them ... do it! Both "The Sicilian" and "Omerta" fill in blanks. Because the films are not exact copies of the books, they remain a most enjoyable reading adventure. Highly recommended!

It feels like a mediocre rehash of THE GODFATHER
This story, about the son of an old Mafia Don who grows up to be a seemingly harmless macaroni importer/Bank CEO but who is truly Mafia is readable, but it feels like Mario Puzo has been to this well a few too many times. Rather than exciting me with the twists and turns of the second generation of an organized crime family who went legit, yet were still hounded by the NYPD and FBI (who looked the other way when the old Don was murdered!), lacks either the alchemy of Puzo's best work (like THE GODFATHER) or the melodrama of his other books. I guess one classic is all some writers get....

I Enjoyed Michael Imperioli's Narration and The Story, But This Version Needs To Be On CD!!
I bought this audiocassette version of the late Mario Puzo's OMERTA back in the early 2000's and enjoyed Micheal Imperioli's narration of it because he really has a way of bringing you into the story and the characters. But my only point of contention is that they didn't release this audio novel in CD form! I mean in 2009 going into 2010, who still has a cassette deck except the most die hard of old schoolers who refuse to go quietly into the digital age without a dirty low down brawl! (-: (Like a couple of my uncles for instance!) Once they release this version to CD, I will be glad, and will happily purchase it again. I've heard that they did a CD version which was narrated by the actor Joe Montegna, and I like him too as an actor and narrator, but I don't see why Imperioli's version can't be digitally remastered and reproduced in CD form, since it's already been recorded. Anywayz, a good audio book.

Excellent writer
This was my 3rd in The Godfather series. All well written and the other 2 could have been movies. The mystery piece so good you can’t guess twists and turns and the descriptions of Sicily makes me want to go there. A bit violent for my taste but mafioso ...must be expected. Loyalty, justice, interesting world.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this novel. The author went to great lengths to develop the characters, creating a rich and immersive experience. The story unfolded gradually and built up to a dramatic conclusion. By the climax of the narrative, I was uncertain about how it would all end. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has an interest in this genre; they will not be disappointed.
