Requires 2 x AA Batteries (not supplied). Directions 1. To insert batteries, open the snap cap using a small tool (e.g. pen or screwdriver). 2. Insert two 1.5V AA batteries into the battery compartment according to the polarity label then replace cover. 3. Push the teeth lever down to release the comb’s teeth, it is now read to use. 4. During operation, hold the handle keeping the button pushed down, the LED indicator lights up. When any conductor or small wingless insects (like fleas or ticks) come into contact with the charged comb’s teeth, they discharge a high voltage, the LED indictor light goes off and the unit emits a buzzing sound. 5. If there is no buzzing sound or hair is attached to the comb’s teeth, clean the teeth using a brush. 6. After combing your pets, put the lever back to protect the teeth. not very effective
For me this item was a complete waste of money, I have 2 cats, one cat wouldn't let me near her with this comb, I suspect because of the noise it makes, my other cat did allow me to comb her but didn't detect any fleas, that isn't because she doesn't have them (combed some out later with a normal flea comb), maybe this comb would work better for dogs, I think a cats fur is just to fine and the comb is just to fiddly.

It makes little zaps! Lol.
It's ok on two of my cats but one is naughty & wont let me use it on her.

Great works okay along side flea prevention drops we use it every day and it works as it says on box.

I found it hard to hold the button as well as keeping hold of the cat, you do need to practice for a while before get the hang of it even then it's hard, I would not use on child head as ends catch and pull on hair.

Electronic Flea Detector / Killer Comb (259) No more nits or Fleas
I found this comb did not live up to expectations. When ever I use it the retractable teeth retract into the comb. To use it I had to tape the level down so the comb would work. My cats did not like the whine the comb made when it was on. I wasn't happy about having to hold the On Button down while combing the cats to keep it working.
