** UPDATE PLEASE READ** Do not buy this product
***UPDATE****AMAZON WAS NOT HELPFUL IN THE END W/MY ISSUE BUT OSMO WAS GREAT. THEY ENDED UP MAKING THINGS RIGHT AND GETTING AMAZON TO CHANGE THEIR DISHONEST POLICY. THANK YOU OSMO!I purchased 3 of these as gifts along with 3 games and can't get any of the 3 to function properly w/the app. Since they are clearly defective I tried to return them only to find out after purchasing that everything Osmo related is FINAL SALE and Amazon doesnt care one bit if items are defective. Yet nowhere before purchasing did it indicate that Osmo items (games and systems) were not returnable. This is not even legal... I never would have purchased anything as a gift that I couldnt return should something be wrong with it but I was scammed into doing it because Amazon and/or Osmo was dishonest about the items being final sale. Do yourself a favor and if you really want an Osmo system buy it from somewhere other than Amazon so if there is an issue with it you arent out several 100's of dollars like I am...

Fun for the children
It hooks children in because they see familiar characters that are already drawn and animated, which they then get to re-draw, re-shape, re-color and see animated before their eyes. You will require either headphones or a quiet space for your child as they use this, as the app it not only full of music and sound effects, but dependent on the sound to give instructions. This is a physically well-made product and a fantastic smooth-running app. It is easy to set up and provides creative and interactive screen time. It is a good introduction into animation and CGI and providing you can talk to you children about it, a good demonstration of the input/ storage/ manipulation/ output of data.

OSMO- PLEASE READ RECOMMENDED CHANGES
This is a great idea but in practice, they're fairly difficult to use in ways that are unnecessary. I don't know how to fix the hang ups in the game design but here's just a couple basic suggestions that will make using this with the young children and special needs kids it's intended for work as intended...-Base needs to be wider so that the whole thing can't fall over so easily. You are making us take expensive iPads out of their protective kid-proof cases so that they will fit in the stand which is narrow, has to be placed on a flat, hard surface and gets knocked over easily and let little kids use it. Even with hands on adult supervision, these kids are catastrophe ninjas and you need to know your audience. No. Just. No. Where is the common sense design? And good lord, why can't we plug in a charger while we do it? There was almost enough room... almost... but not quite. A little taller and we could have done it. This seems like a no-brainer. It would be awesome if there were adjustable base and camera attachments or some other way to allow us to protect the device while in use and a wider base that doesn't fall over so easily, preferably wide enough to have an area that is the size and location that is compatible with the camera attachment with raised edges so you can put the notebook in there and not have to worry about figuring out how to get it just right so that it's easier for little kids to use independently. This area would also help teach them where to place the tiles from the other games so that they will be within camera view. Positioning everything just so is very difficult for special needs kids.-the marker. If you try to use any old dry erase marker, it's going to be very difficult to clean up properly. It can be done with lots of rubbing alcohol and paper towels but it's not ideal. I'd like to use the markers that were designed for this but I can't find replacements. You know what very young children and special needs kids do with markers constantly, despite your best efforts? They leave the caps off. And even with the perfect stewardship of the special marker that I managed to pull off, it still dried out all on its own. Replacements. And not crazy expensive ones, please.-on this particular game, the mickey drawing app, you can not do the pages out of order. It's like you're trying to torture the kids and their parents. Do you have any idea what's it like to try to make a developmentally disabled kid with severe autism and ocd go in the picture order you want them to do instead of being able to choose their favorite characters? It's impossible. I had to complete all the goofy and Donald pics myself to skip ahead and he lost patience and couldn't be involved anymore. This is such a fantastic tool for kids like him. I can't tell you how amazing it was to finally be able to teach him to only draw the portion he was supposed to draw and do it as instructed, that's such a huge skill development achievement... but I need to be able to get him to focus in order to get there and fighting over which picture we have to do ruined it. It should be a simple fix.Otherwise, thank you. It was wonderful to watch him light up as his drawing became his favorite characters, animated and talking to him. This is a great tool for special needs kids education... just needs some adjustments. Thanks for your time. Please please please pass these suggestions on to the appropriate people. Thank you so much. We have bought almost every osmo product and can't wait for more.

So much fun for kids and adults
I got this for my 8-year-old. I think I love it as much as he does! Labeled to work with iPad, but also works on our Kindle Fire. The booklet comes with pictures that are about 80% drawn, then you fill in the rest. Some things are like finish Mickey’s ears and shoe. But some use your own imagination like what party food Minnie brings. Then the screen animates it!!

Awesome product to help
If you think your kid may be interested in this, you should get it for them. I had very little interest, until we ran across an osmo play stand in our local mall. Wow, wow, wow. What a cool set of tools for little kids. And this is a great way to help practice drawing and following directions, with plenty of room for imagination and creativity.
