Designer 1.7 cu. ft. Compact Refrigerator (DAR017A2BDD), Black

I bought the 1 cu. ft. version and so far after a couple weeks I’m very satisfied. It seems to draw very little electricity and is quite quiet. I have it inside my closet and it barely generates any heat at all in there. The inside easily gets down to food-safe temps which is exactly what I was looking for. It’s hard to find that when you’re going this small. Highly recommend if you’re looking for something that can get down to the 32-45 Fahrenheit range and has a tiny form factor! The only con I’ve really noticed so far is that the bottom half of the back of the unit is completely open. Wires and the refrigerant tank are all completely exposed which was a little off putting but nevertheless, this fridge seems to be durable and quiet so far!

This little mini refrigerator works great in a small office space, garage, or apartment where space is limited. Really keeps beverages cold even in hot weather reaching 100F plus outside and the motor is ultra quiet, you wouldn't know it's on, works with just a trickle of electricity that won't dim the lights! This mini-fridge has space for a 6-pk of 12oz cans, one large 2ltr bottle and 6-regular bottles of water and room left for your lunch bag. Has no inside light and the door can be changed to either side for ease of opening. Looks great and is a reliable well made product that I highly recommend. This mini fridge works pretty well. The black color is nice and sleek. It has a modern and aesthetically pleasing design. The temperature control knob allows you to fine tune the temperature. I usually keep it to the left of the middle, as any colder than that and ice will start to accumulate. The size is just ok. I wish it were a bit larger, as not much fits in it. It’s very easy to use and clean. My only other complaint is that ice frequently accumulates even when the temperature isn’t too cold, but this may be due to user error.

I like the size and that it's quieter than my last refrigerator. I don't like the center shelf which I think should be deeper, and I don't like the power line spike that causes my computer monitor to flash when the refrigerator compressor shuts off. The refrigerator is on its own power circuit, and my computer system is on a UPS, but the monitor still flashes which of course means something's being stressed.

After going thru 2 Avanti refrigerators that did not work, I ordered the Danby 1.7 cu. ft. unit. It arrived a couple of days ago. Plugged it in and it fired right up. As recommended, I set it to max. A couple of hours later it was registering 14 degrees. Set it back to about 3/4 and it registered 34. Filled it up and it still ended up at 34. Turned it down some more. Want it about 38 - 40. Love having no freezer which would only ice up. The only negative I can see is, that in their wisdom, read stupidity, they put the temperature control in the back of the unit instead of inside it. The unit is going on a shelf under a counter, which places the control out of reach. They indicate in their advertising that the control is mechanical. Maybe that is the reason it is in the back. Hopefully, the unit will hold its setting once I get it where I want it. If it does not hold its temperature, I will be changing this review drastically.

Ok, so I've had this fridge for 1 1/2 months. It is keeping my 6 11oz Vega protein drinks[in door], 4 18oz ice tea bottles [on inside bottom] and 8 Triple Zero yogurts [4 on mid shelf/4 on top shelf] nice and cold. I'm the only person in my 18x24 office and it sits in the corner on the other side of U shaped desk. It does make a noise that is noticeable if you're listening for it but not near as loud as the dehumidifier that sits near it or the Xerox Phaser printer cycling that sits directly behind me. It easily becomes one of background noises that you don't even notice. It keeps everything nice and cold (especially my protein drinks and I probably only have it set at 2/3 temp. Arrived in time and in expected shape (no dings, scratches, dents). Custodians want to put a tray under it in the event of a leak, but all's been ok so far (sitting on very short pile office carpet). I'm very glad I made this purchase so I can have my food items as scheduled when my bosses office door is closed, not allowing access to our kitchen (larger fridge).

It was great for about a month, then it gradually stopped cooling until it completely stopped. I purchased this on Prime day because it was rather cheap. When I first got it, it would eventually freeze just about everything I put in it, regardless of the thermostat position. The thermostat is on the back of the unit, so if you are going to put it somewhere that you will not be able to easily access the back of the unit, it will be a problem. The can holder was very nice and would provide cold drinks fairly quickly. It had no problem cooling 2 liter bottles that fit nicely in the door. After a few weeks, it stopped freezing everything, and began to cool perfectly. I thought this meant it was working properly, but I believe it had an internal coolant leak. After about a week of perfect cooling, I noticed that it was not cooling anything quite as much as it once did. I tried turning the thermostat to the coolest position, but that did not do much. After another week, it completely stopped cooling. I called Danby, and they told me that it was not worth fixing. They instructed me to take pictures of the unit as it is, then cut the cord and tear off a bar code on the back and send them pictures of that. I did that back on November 3rd and I am still waiting on a refund check as of November 22nd. PROS + The can holder is nice + The door holds 2 liters nicely + Cools great when it cools + Fairly light + Is compressor based, so it actually cools (when it cools) Cons - Thermostat is on the back of the outside of the unit, making it somewhat difficult to get to - Gradually stopped cooling until it became a black box of worthlessness about 1.5 months after I purchased it - "Not worth fixing" - Straight from a Danby Customer representative - I get to stare at a black box of worthlessness with a chopped off cord until Danby gets around to sending me a check I emailed them in the middle of January, asking about the status of my refund. They told me that it had been in the mail since December 21st. It finally arrived at the tail end of January.

I use this little fridge in my bedroom for keeping filtered cold water close. Also keep yogurt and meal replacement drinks handy. I read all the reviews and was a little concerned about how loud it would be when I am trying to sleep. Yes, you can hear when the compressor kicks on but it is not loud enough to bother me either awake or asleep. It also serves as a perfect height bedside table for my lamp, clock and radio. It is just 1.7 cu. ft. but it holds a lot. Good product and I would recommend it and would buy it again.

Works well storing drink n lunch in my office

A year later and this fridge/freezer runs amazing. It fits alot and stays cool 24/7. Now keep this in mind there is an adjuster on the back of the fridge which you can adjust the temperature, don't turn that sucker to full or even half way unless u want a Antarctica freezer which will explode all your soda and ruin your food at 3 am. I recommend a tad bit adjusted from "0" unless you are looking for a freezer. Aside from all of that its decent on sound it can get pretty loud, but that lasts only 10 minutes then it stops and its quiet for an hour or so.

The perfect sized mini fridge for my little apartment. Came super quick and was super easy to just plug in. The temperature control is great, and you can adjust as suited. Keeps my drinks and snacks cold and it's not noisy at all!

RV, fridge. It is really cold on high,it will freeze your beer.

Works great, super quiet, compact, fits perfectly for our space. I would highly recommend buying it! Cheap to use all year round!
