Vaultz Locking Storage Clipboard with Combination Lock, Black

This is a great product. It is a clipboard on top with lockable storage inside. Basically a portable desk. The outside is covered with a smooth black exterior that has a subtle faux leather texture but is basically smooth and makes a good writing surface. The sides are not flimsy or bending. Those who call this product cheap and flimsy are wrong. This is a good, rugged field box and gives a feeling of good quality. As others have mentioned, the clip on the clipboard top is strong and will hold up to about 1/3rd inch of papers securely. The aluminum side rails and steel corners make for long lasting use, The corners, hinges, lock, clip, wall hanger and even nameplate are all riveted for secure holding. The box even has 4 small metal feet on the hinge side so it can stand like a briefcase The lock functions just like a briefcase lock and the combination can be changed to whatever you want and instructions for doing such are included. Two D rings on the sides allow for carrying with a strap, but being a clipboard primarily, I do not use it that way. Inside is ample room for storing documents, forms, writing pads, cell phone, flashlight, wallet, eyeglasses, calculator, maps, etc... The interior has a black cloth lining with a velcro strap for holding documents secure and the lid side has 4 net pockets with elastic. Three pockets along the bottom are small and would only hold small items like a pencil eraser. The top pocket is bigger and would hold half sheet size papers or whatever. There is a keyhole hangar on the back, but I can't see anyone hanging this thing on a wall. I will probably just put Gorilla tape over the hangar hole to keep out debris. The case is made in Viet Nam. It is an excellent value for the $27 and would be worth even more. For that amount of money you could not ask for more than what this delivers. This is a handsome, rugged and functional clipboard/field box/portable desk and can be used by almost anyone in some way. Great for students, people who work in a field job, as a document box to keep in a car or truck, in an office, etc... Recommended.

As a clinician who works in the hospital, I am often running around between patients. I found myself needing to write notes/reminders for patients, carrying lots of paperwork including papers with PHI/PII (personal health information/personally identifiable information), needing my chapstick, etc. I didn't like bringing a purse with me as it's not as easy to disinfect. Furthermore, I am forgetful and if I leave a purse or normal briefcase behind, people could rummage through it in theory. I wanted to make sure I was HIPAA-compliant and protecting my patients' information. Therefore, I bought this since it has a lock on it! Coworkers tease me for it because it definitely looks geeky, but they also think it's very smart! It's definitely saved me a lot of trouble and worry. The lock works perfectly. I love the added shoulder/cross body strap and use it every time. The latch continues to work well. And the briefcase holds so much stuff, including my laptop!

Five Stars for the Clipboard. Zero Stars for the ex. I bought this for my ex because he’s a handyman who still invoices people old-school, and I was trying to be thoughtful. The clipboard is sturdy, professional-looking, locks securely, and has far more storage than you’d expect. How much storage? Enough for paperwork, pens, and plastic mini hands. I had bought the tiny hands from Amazon (5 stars by the way for those) for an unrelated joke, and before one of his client meetings, I tucked them neatly into the interior pocket as a little surprise. They fit beautifully. This clipboard organizes miniature hands better than my ex organized his emotional availability. My only suggestion would be adding a zippered pocket. When he opened the clipboard during the meeting, the tiny hands fell out in front of everyone, while they were discussing him being a handyman. So, yes. His hands literally fell out during a handyman meeting. Unfortunately (but fortunately) we broke up, so I no longer get a chance to se this excellent clipboard. Five stars for the product. One tiny plastic middle finger for the recipient.

The Clipboard is very efficient have a very good construction but like all in life is not perfect these are the imperfections 1.- The strap shoulder is not sufficient wide therefore is not comfortable to use as a shoulder clipboard, the solution is easy use any other one. 2.- I read a lot of comments about the hole on the back, the hole was intended for hanging the clipboard on the wall like any other clipboard, but this is not easy with the thickness of this clipboard therefore the hole is useless also witn the hole on a rain day well you know what is going to happend bad design the solution easy I covered with a plastic and silicone. 3.- The last one, you really can not put any code to protect from opening the only valid code for this model is the one for all any other at the time of buying "000" so is better do not put any of value inside because everyone could open it. When the manufacturer take care of this 3 issues you wll get a very good item.

I carry my Kindle DX in a backpack everywhere so I needed a case to protect it from the aches and pains of daily life. The Case Logic cover I have the Kindle in keeps it clean but not safe. This Vaultz Clipboard box works great. The panels are plastic and the aluminum corners and edges and quite strong. The inside has a cloth lining but I'm thinking of putting in some more padding. The lock I don't quite get. If someone wants the contents they could just steal it then break it open in the comfort of their own home. Besides anyone can pick these kinds of locks. It comes with a thin canvas shoulder strap but don't have plans to use it. A good case for what I need it for and much cheaper then the Netbook cases. I use this product every day in an ER for work. It gets stepped on, thrown, beat up, and has yet to fail. I have enjoyed it so much that a couple of my co workers have ordered them for themselves. The lock can be broken easily, but the over all idea does keep people from messing with it. The best part about this product is how sturdy it is. I can write on it without dealing with it flexing, and keep everything I need inside. It has plenty of space for my day to day needs. I would recommend this to anyone who needs a mobile writing space, and a clip board.

Okay, I’m not one to knock a good lock, because the locking mechanism is perfect. HOWEVER, I did need to superglue the felt lining to one side of the inner compartment, then I noticed, the whole thing was in there with one strip of glue to secure it, so I peeled the edges back completely where there were gaps and superglued it. In his site, maybe returning would have been better, but it’s literally perfect. Secures documents for the ride when required, and I LOVE that it has a cable to lock to the cars foundational structures so it can’t be ripped out of the car. It’s alll gooood, but maybe a better adhesive for the felt lining 👍 I did find one piece of the aluminum was a bit loose also; so I just took a welding kit to it. Looks perfect.

This is great and really high quality. Unfortunately it wasn't big enough for my laptop so I had to return it. But if you have a ipad or MacBook air, this item is incredible

I buy a Vaultz Clipboard every year for work and the big problem I've always had is the latch breaking or dropping my clipboard. Now, with the added carry strap I no longer have the issue of holding a boxy clipboard and carrying my child back and forth from work. The combination lock definitely solves the latch issue as well.
