Simple install, mix and match AC & Battery models in P4010* Range
I was looking for something that would 1) be able to interconnect to other modules, 2) have both AC and Battery Models, 3) have Combo Smoke/CO and Smoke only models in both power variants 4) Interface to the SmartThings for my Alarm System and Smart Notification* * A True 'Device to SmartThings' integration - NOT a Listener device that reacts when it 'hears' an audible alarm going off I could not find any other system that actually checks ALL those boxes. And for factor 4 taken by itself, there is only one other brand that achieves that, but does not meet the other requirements. However with this Kidde Series factors 1-3 are present out of the box and even the last part (SmartThings Integration) was actually easy to achieve with some extra parts. So I have Multiples of AC Combo, AC Smoke, DC Combo and DC Smoke - they all interconnect wirelessly and when one alerts they all go off. Now for the SmartThings part - I found a guide on SmartThings community on how to do that (search "Integrating Kidde Smoke/CO sensors into SmartThings") - the extra parts comprised a Kidde SM120X Relay, a Kidde CO120X Relay, a junction box and a pair of EcoLink Zwave Door/Window sensors - everything available right here on Amazon! I won't go into the details here, but it is a very simple install and you don't have to run any wires between modules - the only requirement is that you have at least ONE P4010AC* unit to connect the relay modules. The video shows the test function being activated on one Module and the Status showing on my SmartThings Screen (so from there I can receive notification to my Phone if I am not home, or have other Smart Actions, like turning on the lights etc in an event) The result is my home has gone from a mishmash of very much 'dumb' plain old AC Smoke units (about 30 yrs old!), some 9V Battery Smoke units (20 years old) and newer 10yr battery CO modules - NONE of which were interconnected, to a super-smart Interconnected system that very much meets todays standards. A very fun project to include the SmartThings Integration, however even without that, creating an interconnected Network of Detectors is very simple to achieve. Just to offer some clarification on some of the questions I see asked: The AC Modules (with battery backup) will NOT operate for 10 years without power being applied - estimated operation without AC is about a week I believe. (only intended to maintain operation for typical power outage situations) Get the DC modules if you can't provide AC Power - those WILL last 10 years (guaranteed to!) Interconnecting with other Kidde Alarms - ONLY the AC Modules can be connected by virtue of the hard-wire run to them - they cannot communicate wirelessly with other Modules that are not in P4010* Series. However the Battery Models will be part of the Network as long as there is an AC P4010* that has been physically connected to those non-P4010* series Models. Important to note that the Battery Models of the P4010DC* Series have no wired interconnect AT ALL and will ONLY interconnect to other P4010* Series (whether AC or DC)

Do not buy. Traumatic experience.
We bought a house with several hardwired smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and we recently replaced them all with brand-new Kidde ones. Biggest mistake ever. Three months ago, when I was nine months pregnant, the carbon monoxide alarms went off in the dead of night. I had to drag my two toddlers out into a storm while we waited for the fire department to come and confirm it was just a false alarm. My kids are still traumatized by the ear-piercing, deafening way these things shriek through the whole house. Then this morning, they went off again, this time yelling that there was smoke in the house. I had to throw my kids, including my infant, out on the deck in the pouring rain while I ran around like a chicken with my head cut off trying to turn them off. The hush buttons did absolutely nothing, and out of sheer panic, I ended up ripping them all straight out of the ceiling. Right now, there is a sad path of smoke detectors lying on the floors throughout my house. My nerves are completely shot, and I think I actually damaged my hearing standing under these stupid things for so long trying to make them stop. I've replaced them all with Google Nest, which apparently is now discontinued. My kids ask me constantly if the alarms are about to go off, and the honest answer is that I just don't know. These things are the worst.

Reliable and Convenient with Voice Alerts
I recently purchased the Kidde Wireless Hardwired Smoke Detector with 10-Year Battery Backup, Voice Alerts, and Photoelectric Sensor, and overall, it has been a reliable and convenient addition to my home safety setup. The 10-year battery backup feature provides peace of mind, ensuring continuous protection even during power outages. The photoelectric sensor offers reliable detection, promptly alerting me in case of any potential smoke or fire hazards. One standout feature is the voice alerts, which provide clear and informative notifications. This adds an extra layer of safety, allowing for quick action and evacuation if necessary. The voice alerts are particularly helpful in a large home or for those who may have difficulty hearing standard alarms. Installation was straightforward, thanks to the wireless connectivity and compatibility with existing hardwired systems. The included mounting hardware and clear instructions made the process hassle-free. However, I did encounter some minor issues with false alarms. Occasionally, the detector would trigger an alarm without any apparent smoke or fire. While this was concerning, it did not happen frequently enough to significantly impact my overall satisfaction with the product. In summary, the Kidde Wireless Hardwired Smoke Detector offers reliable detection, convenient voice alerts, and a long-lasting battery backup. Despite occasional false alarms, it remains an effective and valuable component of my home safety measures. I recommend it to those seeking a reliable smoke detector with added convenience features.

Integrates well; Glad I won't have to replace the battery for 10 yrs!
I installed this unit to replace a different Kidde with a 10 year battery. The device is installed on a 16 foot ceiling, so replacing the back-up battery is a pain, as well as hazardous! The last unit I'd installed was a different model, and went off in the middle of the night due to a spider that had crawled inside. Because it was linked to the other detectors in my house, they ALL went off! After I'd uninstalled the old unit, the spider fell out AFTER I'd permanently disabled the Lithium battery. Sigh. This unit features a screen that should, hopefully, prevent insect intrusion. Fingers crossed. This unit has some additional wiring that has to be pushed up into the ceiling box, but the adapter clip clicked perfectly with my existing Kidde connector. I was initially concerned that the detector has a lit green ring, versus the small "powered on" light on my previous Kidde. But, as advertised, the light turns off at night. Overall, very pleased.

Good alarm, photoelectric is way less prone to false positives, user experience is good
We had a smoke alarm near the kitchen that was constantly going off when cooking. Turns out it was ionization type so I swapped it for this photoelectric model and haven't had a problem since. Nicely all Kidde smoke alarms (regardless of type) interoperate over the wiring so when any of them go off they all sound. The interface is nice -- when you press the button to test it warns you that it's going to be loud (they're not kidding, a modern smoke alarm will absolutely wake the dead), gives you a countdown (with opportunity to cancel) and then sounds the alarm. The hush feature is good -- but of course if the smoke alarm is on the ceiling you'll need a stick to poke it -- but the button is big and central so at least it's a good target for your frantic stick-poking...

Unreliable compared to the previous model
We had to install this unit after the previous one exceeded its ten year life and was no longer useful. It was the type thar used a network code and we had one remote unit. We installed this unit and two of the proper new remotes in the same locations with the second remote on the second story of the same building. Within the last month the new master unit beeps three times and when checked indicates it has had a false alarm and lost contact with the two remotes. The master was moved to make it closer to the remotes with no improvement. I can reset all three units and they will stay connected for a few days and then the master reports the fault. It is out of the Amazon return period and the Kidde warrantee process seems difficult if not impossible. Another example of newer tech not being better. EDIT: After additionally having to do a reset a number of times with middle of the night beeping of the master unit we decided to give up on these units. I found a deal on Amazon for a six pack of X-Sense Wireless Interconnected Battery Powered Smoke Detector Fire Alarm with Over 820 ft Transmission Range. While they do not interconnect with our existing wired Kidde units meaning we have another "master" in the house, they are easier to install and should do the job. They do have a non-replaceable battery but a 7 year warrantee so we will see how they work out. Hopefully we will never need their principle function.

Good detector - and mute function works!
I bought this so that I can turn it off whenever my cooking creates minor smoke. I noticed this unit is less sensitive in the first place. The mute function works great when there is a little smoke from cooking - I'm really happy. Previous detector would go off when I was cooking regularly. Then I started a small, smokey fire in the garage when I had a welding issue. There was a lot of smoke, and the detector went off. No fire, just a lot of smoke. Went to mute the unit, it said 'Too much smoke, not able to mute'. There was a lot of smoke, so it made sense. I liked that the system was smart enough. Highly suggest you get this if you are looking to replace your detector.

solid 2-in-1 with a 10 year battery backup
Good, hard-wired combination CO and smoke detector. Kidde's always pretty reliable, and installation was straight-forward (read the booklet). New wiring harness means if you're replacing an older version it'll be a 10 min install instead of 5, but it's still easy, and works well with existing systems. Didn't use the wireless linking, but that's an option if you don't have the third-wire linking all the detectors together.

Needs to be hardwired in
The description and photos of this smoke/CO2 detector didn't suggest that it wasn't a plug-in product, which is what I required.
