Love it, love it, love it!
I have been recovering from back surgery for the last few months, so I spend quite a lot of time in my La-Z-Boy recliner. My recliner is leather, and the arm rests are at least a foot wide, probably closer to 14", rounded and padded. I have NO problems with the organizer slipping off. I think maybe the folks that do have not considered that the weight in the pockets on either side of the arm need to be reasonably balanced. If you drape anything over a surface, rounded or otherwise, and one side is markedly heavier than the other, it will unbalance and slip to the weightier side. I keep mine REASONABLY balanced (and yes, that means one side is a bit heavier than the other), and have never had a problem with it slipping off. I keep notes and notepads, pens & pencils, lotion, pill bottles, my wireless mouse, personal items, small office items, and my kitties' brushes in my organizer. I use the top surface as a mouse pad most of the time. When I am playing role-playing games once a week, I use it as a surface to roll dice on, so my dice don't roll away and become kitty toys. I occasionally use it to hold small food items like granola bars or fruit cups, but nothing that is spillable (no drinks). I don't use it as a surface for liquids because A) the surface is slightly tilted due to the position of my recliner, B) the location would make it a perfect spot for me to knock over something that was over 4 or 5 inches tall, C) my cats wander all over my chair, and D) because it is not latched down to the recliner arm, it is possible for me to knock the whole thing off, though I haven't yet. I actually like the fact that it doesn't latch down permanently and is not difficult to switch from arm to arm. Sometimes I want it on my right, when I am using the mouse, and sometimes I want it on my left, when I want it more out of the way, but still accessible. The fabric is very hard-wearing and the construction is solid. I rest my arm on the back lip quite a bit when I am using the mouse, and it has not deformed. I've had it in everyday use for over 2 months, so this is a pretty good indication of quality. There are enough pockets for my stuff, and to keep items organized. Main side pockets will hold an 8.5" x 11" piece of paper without folding or similarly-sized (typically sized) magazine. I suppose that, if the chair you are using is a little snug for you, you might have problems with it "getting up" with you, but I would think that, in a wide chair or sofa, this would not be a problem. All-in-all, I find it perfect for my needs and would recommend it for anyone who has mobility challenges or who just likes to settle with all their often-used stuff at hand.

I can't believe how handy this is!
I really like this organizer. I had debated on purchasing it because most of the negative reviews center around it not fitting the arm of the chair. I use this on my recliner that is basically a Lazy Boy knockoff but a great chair. The arms are wide but very flat on top and this fits perfectly. I'm constantly working on my laptop in my chair so the top part I use to hold my headphones and mouse. I also use a Wacom tablet for graphic work. The tablet is approx the same size as a regular size of paper. I was doing a bit of juggling before I got the organizer because if I wasn't careful, when I got up from the chair, I'd accidentally knock off my tablet. EEK! I was also losing the stylus because I'd forget to put it in the loop on the tablet. The little loop is a pain sometimes and I'd set the stylus down without thinking. It only took a moment for the stylus to disappear between the cushions of the chair. Not anymore! I now automatically place the stylus in the top of the organizer and it's always easy to find now. The organizer has a single large pocket on one side that holds my tablet perfectly. I have that on the inside of the chair arm because the tablet is heavy and if not balanced the organizer will slide off - but it needs to be substantially unbalanced to do that. The smaller pockets I use for holding important mail (tax season is coming up at the time of writing this review, so I'm putting stuff like that in smaller pockets), as well as small trade paperbacks. As long as the load is reasonably balanced, this organizer isn't going anywhere. It fits my chair nicely. If you have a chair that the arms are rather rounded on the top, then I could see how it might not fit properly or would slide more, also my chair is upholstered, if you have something akin to leather, wood, or ye olde naugahyde, it might not be quite as stable. If I wasn't constantly using my mouse on the other arm of my chair, I'd get a second one for the other side because I like this so much. My cats, unfortunately, hate the fact that I got this because they like sitting next to me on the left arm of my chair while I'm working on my laptop. One kitty especially does his best to pull it off, grabbing it with his teeth or pulling it off with his claws. Finally he got to the point where he curls into a ball between it and me but will gradually push it away and if I'm not paying attention he will push it off. lol! So if you need a nice organizer or just want to drive your cats nuts, I highly recommend this!

About What You Would Expect
I think this product would benefit from a weighted flap on the inside. It does work well, but if you put several remotes in the outside pocket, it tends to want to pull it off the arm of the chair. If you have square arms on your chair, it might hold a little better, or perhaps with some fabrics a Velcro type fastener might help to hold it. The firm top is a nice touch, and it does work as an "Armchair mouse pad", though the stiff rim does get in the way a bit. One side has three divided pockets, good for remotes or even a bottle of water, with a full size pocket behind them for TV guide/magazine sized items. The other side has a rather large pocket that I imagine would hold everything you need to knit a sweater. In a fixed chair the top might hold a drink, but if your chair rocks/reclines, this would probably not be a good idea. The thing to remember is that one side is going to hang on the inside of the arm, and depending on your chair this may or may not make the inside more or less useless. However, it might be possible for whichever side you keep on the inside to hold a few heavier objects to balance the weight in the outside pocket. Overall I find it handy to use during a movie or when you are watching TV, but I end up taking it off if I don't need to have my remotes handy. Since it tends to fall off if I get in and out of the chair, and it does get in the way of resting your arm on the arm of the chair. I toss it on when I am going to sit down and watch TV for a while and it does keep the remotes handy and it keeps them from getting "misplaced".

I wanted something like this made of cloth to hang over the back of the couch but this was all I could find. It fits ok on my couch arm and keeps all the remotes where the belong, right beside me. On one side there are pockets for your remotes and on the other its wide open to hold some magazines or snack etc.

Came early.looks exactly as pictured.made of a strong feeling canvas type material.top tray has rigid bottom & rigid sides so holds whatever you put in it firmly & helps it fit & stay on arm of sofa steadily.rigid sides just over 2cm high so things don't slide out.rigid bottom helps keep things like drinks steady & flat.iv put a place mat inside mine so it's wipeable as it's canvas all over.1 large pocket on one side & e pockets on other.2 outer pockets slightly larger than middle one.i hav an L shaped sofa with quite wide arms & it fits with room to spare.its design will make it fit most sofa arms securely but bare in mind that it goes over the arm in an N shape so if your sofa has low arms or cushioned arms it may not fit well or b firm enough as the arm needs to be hard to be steady enough to stand anything in the tray that you want to stay upright.very usefully & lots of room for things like remotes, pens, glasses, tissues to keep around sofa area tidy & have things close to hand where you sit.

The pockets element were fine but the tray part was very flexible and formed itself to the rounded shape of the chair arm. The supplied "stiffening cardboard" insert for the tray was made of very thin cardboard and it could not be attached to the fabric tray - thus rendering the tray useless on both counts. It has been returned.
