Add some color and excitement to your aquarium with Red Cherry Shrimp! These shrimp look great, clear your tank, and are a blast to watch! They are very active and breed very quickly. Each bag contains at least 20 Cherry Shrimp, but we usually ship extras. We generally ship young adult shrimp that are already of breeding age. These are freshwater shrimp and can live in almost any freshwater aquarium. They are very popular for planted tanks and community tanks, and many people use them in large aquariums for management. All Red Cherry Shrimp are extremely adaptable creatures that can live in almost any freshwater aquarium. Some of the younger shrimp have not reached their full potential yet and will grow into a deep red color as long as they are comfortable in the tank. Lower intensity lighting and dark substrate also helps them achieve deep and dark reds. RECOMMENDED TANK PARAMETERS: - pH level range: 6.5 to 7.5 - Temperature range: 65° - 80° F - Water type: Soft to hard - Recommended Aquatic Arts tank mates: Other types of dwarf shrimp (such as Blue Velvet shrimp, Neon Yellow Shrimp, Green Babaulti shrimp, etc.), various types of snails (such as Nerite Snails, Sulawesi Snails, etc.). They can also be kept with small to medium-sized, non-aggressive fish. - Additional notes: Relatively easy to care for - similar to other dwarf shrimp species. Dwarf shrimp prefer to live in tanks with live aquatic plants (such as java moss, anubias barteri, green cabomba, etc). This is because dwarf shrimp like the cover that plants provide.

Better than advertised quality and fantastic customer service. Very hardy/easy to keep.
My first order I received the wrong shrimp. However Preston their customer service rep did a fantastic job getting me sorted. In my most recent order I received 24 shrimp, of which 2 were dead on arrival, however the shrimp that arrived were fantastic quality. Of the 22 alive, about 19 of them are of a grade I would consider higher than advertised.I highly recommend you take these steps however when you get these shrimp when introducing them to an established tank. Doing so will ensure that you keep the shrimp alive and thriving:1. Get 2 buckets at around 5 gallons (home depot sells them for $3 here), some airline tubing/siphon, water conditioner, and an organic cucumber.2. Slice up and blanch your cucumber the day you order your shrimp, put them in a bag in the freezer (this is a very good and stable food for your shrimp later, divide them into fourths for easier feeding).3. When your shrimp arrive carefully place them in your bucket and empty your shrimp into the bucket (I slice the tops off and leave the bags in the bucket to reduce stress on the shrimp)4. Carefully drip acclimate some fresh clean room temperature water from the other bucket, fill it to about 4/5th the way.5. Give them a piece of cucumber (I find this clears them out)6. Quarantine the shrimp in the bucket for a day, remove any dead shrimp you find immediately7. Herd shrimp into a small container (I used a measuring cup)8. Drip acclimate them to the tank you want to introduce them to

Healthy, Active Shrimp
Update: I purchased this again and unfortunately had to change my 5 star review to a 3 star. The shrimp didn't come from Aquatic Arts. They came packaged with just styrofoam, no heat pack, in the middle of winter (high 30s F). There were only 19 shrimp and 4 were dead. When i contacted them, they only refunded me a small portion of my money. They didn't send replacements. Very disappointed.I've waited a long time to get these shrimp. It's not a cheap purchase, especially when ordering it on Amazon and waiting for it to be delivered in winter. I expected the worst and was extremely happy with the results. I received 23 living Cherry Shrimps, nicely bundled up, and warm, even though the weather outside was in the high 30's.All the shrimp looked healthy, even though the color on a few were not ideal (a couple of the males almost had no red), for the most part the red tones were dark and beautiful. There were no berried females but that doesn't matter. The mix of males to females were pretty equal and again, all the shrimp were a good size and healthy. After doing a drip, to acclimate them to the new tank water, they were all very active and happy. A great company (second thing I've ordered from them) and I'll definitely order from them again.

Several nice shrimp
I received several nice shrimp with my shipment, along with a few less colorful ones, which I think is to be expected. I'd say it was a fair mix of Sakura grade plus some Fire Red, and some bordering on Painted. I also had 1 or 2 (out of 20) that were pretty blank with just a bit of red. I had trouble with my first shipment, we think they might have had a rough time during transit as demonstrated by a couple of DOA, but Aquatic Arts was great about getting me a new shipment and making sure things worked out. When mail ordering fish or shrimp, it's important to learn about proper acclimation. If I had one criticism of this order, it's that the instructions for drip acclimating that came with the package were a bit lacking. The shrimp I received shipped in breather bags, which have a different acclimation process than normal poly bags. Do your research and ask questions ahead of time.

Wonderful people who care about you!
The people running this company are wonderful. Some of my shrimp died, but that is to be expected. The ones that lived are healthy, active shrimp. I have contacted them and they took enough time out of their day to ask questions to make sure I had a safe home for my shrimp. I don’t know if they are planning on replacing the shrimp I lost. I didn’t ask them to, and I knew beforehand that some may die and do not hold that against them. What I was pleased with, there food for shrimp. It’s all they need and they go for it as soon as it hits the water. Also very pleased with the attention they spent writing and asking questions to help my daughter with her shrimp farm. That’s what she called it. I will be buying everything I can from Aquatic Arts. Before I found this company, I delt with a company you may know, starts with a P and ends Co. They are the worst. They do not care. Aquatic Arts cares a whole lot. I wish I lived closer so I could tell them personally, Thank you.

Awesome purchase.
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. Amazing! They ship a few extra shrimp to account for possible loss due to shipping. There were ZERO dead shrimp in my order when I unpacked.... actually someone had a few eggs that hatched lol. There are about 4 babies swimming in my new dedicated shrimp tank! They are varying levels of, redness? But the ones that appear a bit bigger ie full grown, are a beautiful dark red throughout the entire body. As hoped they are memorizing to watch lol. If you watch video right about 9 seconds in and a little out of focus you will see a baby come in from left to right and land at bottom of screen.

More than expected, sooner than expected
I ordered 20 cherry shrimp and got 26! Every single one arrived alive and healthy. Even though it was shipped in May (spring weather where I live), the shrimp were sent in an insulating styrofoam box inside of a sturdy cardboard box. The shrimp were packaged in an inflated, thick plastic bag with water and soft mesh to cling to, and that bag was inside another inflated bag. I followed the acclimation directions that came with them and they seem well. They only arrived today so we’ll see how they do, but they were chilling on plant leaves and eating biofilm after a short time, which bodes well.
