Herschel Supply Co. Pop Quiz Offset Backpack

I bought the navy color of this backpack about 2 years ago, and have been using it as my main backpack since. I love it. It is stylish and extremely well built. I have had absolutely no rips or zipper failures or seams coming loose. I have used it at internships in a professional environment, or strolling to class on campus. I am a college student so I use it to carry books and my computer. The main compartment has a laptop section with really soft polyester (think snuggie) lining that is black. Your laptop will be nicely protected inhere. I have a 15" laptop that is pretty hefty, so its a bit tight, but it feels well protected. A macbook will slide right in. I doubt a 17" laptop will fit in there though. Outside the laptop section is just empty space which I think is nice. All those bells and whistles inside other backpacks are just annoying and never get used. The lining is a bright red paisley which looks awesome. There is also a headphone hole made of a rubbery material. But who uses those these days? I never have. At the very top of the pack is a "sunglasses" compartment that opens with a 5 inch long zipper. It also has the soft black lining. Its a nice easy to access compartment and would definitely be a good place for sunglasses, or pencils and such. The secondary pouch section also has the red paisley lining. It has a zipper mesh section, I use this for coins, plus some pencil pockets, a large pocket and 2 other small pockets. There is also a plastic clip that would be good for keys. One thing I don’t like is that this section only has one zipper instead of two which makes it slower or harder to open. The front of this pouch also has a zipper and opens to a thin compartment on the entire front of the pouch. The back side of this compartment is the other side of the lining from the secondary pouch, which looks kinda pink and ugly. I never really use this compartment though. The straps are padded but not heavily so. The leather accents are nice, and have held up very well over the years. The handle on top of the backpack is also leather which looks nice and has had no rips whatsoever.

This bag doesn't have many spectacular features. There's no security zipper, no designated laptop zipper, or even a water bottle holder. But that doesn't overshadow that this bag is very trendy. Most students on my campus carried JanSport bags, which from a distance look very similar. But the Herschel holds it's shape better and doesn't sag under heavy weight. I purchased the Deep Ultramarine, which is a very flashy blue. Nevertheless, the color and style was always satisfying to see and carry. Functionally, the Pop Quiz does everything you need it to do. The main compartment is large enough to fit every textbook and most notebooks that I used so I never found myself struggling for space. The battery pouch came in handy many times during class and plane rides, but sadly it is just too small to fit a water bottle. The laptop pouch is softly lined and stores my MacBook 15" very well, but I have to leave its sleeve behind. A smaller laptop could probably wear a sleeve. (I have the Incase Icon) The smaller pouch was very useful for static items such as pencils, gum, food, and charging cables. I was always very happy with the organization. However, the water proof pouch proved to be rather useless. My items in the small pouch filled up the space so I ended up only holding my MacBook charger inside because nothing else could fit. At times the zippers were a bit of a hassle, but purely because of the waterproof covers. I got caught in several rainstorms and my books always stayed nice and dry, even though the bag got rather wet. Overall, I am very content with my purchase. Price watch a little and the colors go on sale every now and then. My only complaint is the lack of an interior water bottle pouch – I just arranged my books to create a nice spot. Definitely get this bag if you are looking for a trendy and sleek book bag, but if you need all the extra space and special compartments, this is not the bag for you.

I bought this Herschel Backpack 3 months ago, and I really love it so much! At first I didn't think it was big enough going into sophomore year, so I was debating between a Jansport and this one. However, once I bought the backpack I was thoroughly surprised with the amount it could fit. I've been able to fit 3 1" binders, 6 folders, and 2 notebooks snugly, including my Chromebook. If you're not buying this backpack because your afraid it might not have enough room, you'll definitely be surprised with the amount it holds, so please consider buying it because, I definitely do not regret buying it. It doesn't have a water bottle pocket, but I've been able to fit my hydro flask bottle easily into my backpack, so although its inconvenient, the backpack is still worth it! In addition, the black backpack is such a classic and I've found that it really has such a nice look and feel to it.

First of all it is a good looking backpack! I was little bit concerned about the size however even though it is not the biggest backpak in the world but it can hold good amount of things. I was pretty amazed by that it can hold up my thick 15 inch macbook pro from 2009 two textbooks and several notebooks. Also there are enough storage spaces to put things like phone battery, charger, sunglasses and other things. What I love about it is that it has a saperate padded space for a laptop and my huge macbook pro from old days fits...so Im pretty sure that it will hold any laptop under 15inch Overall it is a great backpack...I am not so sure about the price though... I gotten it just under $30 and I was happy about it but the price now has risen since... I would recommend it only if you carry under two textbooks and a laptop. I wouldnt recommend it for people who has to carry everything...

I purchased this bag in Black with tan to use in college and at home on a day to day basis. I bought it both for the aesthetic appeal and functionality. I will give my impressions on the bag, especially as I use it more. First impression: Right out of the box the bag looks exactly like it does online; aesthetically pleasing. Otherwise, the bag's material is clearly not that of a more functional and durable bag, but it looks good and promising so far. Middle of the spectrum as far as the price range for backpacks of this quality go. Pros: -The bag is stylish and clean looking. Not very bulky and not too many pockets, zippers, or other attachments to take away from the look. -The inside of the main pocket is a very soft material and more spacious than expected. This includes a laptop pocket, well padded and easily fits my 13.3inch laptop and charger. -The pockets come with waterproof zipper covers. -The colors are vibrant. Cons: - The lower portion of the bag, in my case the tan part, doesn't look very durable. Mainly for style purposes. -The same goes with the rest of the bag. It is meant more for style and occasional use instead of taking a beating. -There are only 4 pockets, including the main big pocket, on the bag. Although this is good for occasional use and not for over packing, it is a let down that there are no side pockets, such as pockets for water bottles or more zipper pockets. -Herschel bags are pricey for their quality and mostly aesthetic appeal. Overall impression: -For daily use, I think this bag will be perfect. Great style, very sleek look, functionally sound, and it will do the job. However, this is definitely not something I would take with me hiking or to pack with things completely, I'd be scared of ripping the material. For the $70-80 price tag, great looking and functional bag, but don't expect an infinitely spacious and durable bag.

I absolutely love this bag. I purchased it about five months ago, and I bought it the Herschel Supply Co. Anchor Sleeve. I have a 13" Macbook Pro, and I got the bag for my average school day, and the sleeve for when I just needed a few books and my Macbook for the day. The bag is great. I never like stuffing my bag full of textbooks (I like to keep it light), but there's definitely plenty of space in this bag. I usually keep my Macbook, 1-2 composition books, 1-2 textbooks, and my power cable in the big pouch. In the medium-sized pouch, I store pencils, sharpies, my wallet and keys (when needed), and such in there. The smallest pouch is used for my iPhone cable, loose change, and any other small items I need to keep. The bag is really well made. I was, at first, weary about buying this bag because I didn't know if my Macbook would fit perfectly in the laptop holder, or if the leather would easily tear, etc. However, the bag is extremely well-made, and my Macbook fits perfectly in it (I was afraid it was going to be small, as the laptop holder is designed for a 15" Macbook). There's plenty of space, the material is nice, and it's an overall great bag. The only drawback is the "MP3 holder" that's in it. The actual hole that your headphones are supposed to come out of from the bag is way too small, and you can easily get your headphones stuck in it. I realized that the first time I tried it out, and I've never used it since. This isn't a big deal for me, because I wouldn't even use it in the first place, but some may want to use it. Overall, it's a great bag. I think it's pretty much worth the price, and the laptop sleeve is really nice as well.

Just got the bag and it looks great. The material is nice and thick. Very high quality stuff. The leather on the seem very think, hard, and durable. Saw that some people say that it is synthetic but it feels like a very thick and tough. Not the thin light faux leather that companies use for jackets. I went from using a Herschel Little America and decided to get this one. The Little America carried probably twice as much stuff in the main compartment but the single tiny front pocket wasn't working for me. I carry a lot of extra stuff (pens, phone charger, highlighters, etc) and the one little pocket doesn't fit much. One thing that I like about this bag is that it has a padded laptop compartment but it takes more space out of the main compartment because of it. Pros: - Looks Stylish - High Quality Material - Very comfortable to wear - Plenty of Pockets for pens, chargers, and other things that you might want to carry around - Padded laptop compartment Cons - No super big main compartment. Fits MBP, couple binders, and maybe a text book (not a math or science one) - No side pockets for water bottle (which I knew) - thats about it.

I couldn't love this bag anymore than I do. I'm honestly surprised that such a popular name brand could hold up this well but it has exceeded my expectations in every way possible. I used it all four years of college (LOTS of books, lots of walking, and a semester abroad), traveled throughout the U.S. and internationally (Europe and Asia) using this bag as my personal item for flights, used it for day trips and mini-vacations, and now on my day-to-day throughout the city. Pros: - Extremely durable. Lasted four years of college carrying loads of books and only shows light wear (scuffed bottom and handle on the top). - Very comfortable. The mesh on the shoulder straps are very soft and protective, and the structure evenly distributes weight. - Basically waterproof. Can withstand basic showers and quick runs through a heavier storm, but if you have any doubts just pick up a can of weatherproofing spray. - Perfect carry-on personal item, fits easily under the seat in front of you (unless it's overpacked) - Separate lined pocket for a 15" computer. I've got a 13" and I can fit the laptop in its case here, although the case isn't necessary. - LOTS of space, including the sunglass pouch at the top (can be used for cellphones, etc.), the front zipper pack for boarding passes etc., front pouch (with key clip, zippered pouch, etc.), and inside the main bag you have a separate space for you laptop, a media pocket on the side, and a media pouch with a somewhat obsolete headphone port. - Tons of color options. Cons: - No external water bottle holder. Honestly the only complaint I have since there have been more than a few times where a half sealed bottle spilled in the bag. Would absolutely recommend.

I love it! ❤ it's mid volumn size so it's not too big or too small. Perfect size for me. The colour is soooo cute. Definitely my favourite bag!
