Inspired LED LED 4-Position Dimmer Switch for use Lighting Products

Works great to set the brightness of accent lighting. Have found all of the Inspired LED products to be of good value.

This is a great complement to Inspired LEDs product line, but I think that it could be improved upon. I really like that this dimmer switch not only offers four brightness levels, but it also has an off position. That makes it an easy replacement for the on/off rocker switch included in most of Inspired LEDs' kits.My main gripe about this dimmer switch is the placement of the connector jacks. Because it is a switch, you will want to place it someplace easily accessible.Let's use an under-cabinet, kitchen lighting build as an example. You want to add a set of Inspired LED lights under your cabinets to light up your counters & stove top. You decide to include this dimmer switch so that you can soften the light for secondary duty as a night light or mood lighting. The best place for this switch is in the corner under a cupboard...probably by your cook top. Unfortunately, there is no way to place this switch in the very corner closest to the outside edges. If you want to mount the switch with its long sides running the same direction as your counters, you will have to push the switch an inch or more away from the front edge of the cupboard because of the power cable going into or lighting cable leaving the switch. A similar problem exists if you chose to turn the switch 90°, but in this case, the switch has to be moved an inch or more from the underside of the cabinet.This problem is completely addressed if both the power in & power out connectors (like their on/off rocker switch) were on one side of the dimmer switch. In this configuration, the user has three "clean" sides of the switch which makes installations much cleaner in nature. You can put the switch behind & flush to the lip underneath the cupboards. You can even expose one or two sides of the switch for cupboards with flush bottoms, and there is no concern over exposed wiring taking away from the lighting installation.

Worked great for a few weeks. I didn't touch the button more than 20 times and it died out.

This is almost a necessary accessory for the under cabinet lighting. Being able to switch between dim night lighting and brighter task lighting has made the whole kit far more valuable. I was however disappointed in the overall quality of the switch. Perhaps I should have read reviews but I did not realize that the "dimming" is a sequential four brightness setting. You have to push the little button four times if you want the brightest setting. An ability to hold the button as it cycles would be nice. Even better would be a smoother dimming process with more settings. As it functions now the lights turn off each time you press the button and then turn back on in the next brightest setting when you release the button.The button is also very small and finicky. I could deal with having to push it multiple times if it felt decent doing so but the button is too small, does not give a very satisfying click and sometimes is not responsive unless you press it a certain way. It almost feels like a little joystick because you can press it in different directions but only certain directions will activate it. Pressing straight down sometimes results in a missed press so I'll have to press in a certain direction to get it to register.For $20 a better quality button/feel would have been nice as well as more smooth dimming process but in the end I am glad that I made the purchase. The ability to dim the lights outweighs the shortcomings of the actual switch itself.

I purchased this for the "Super bright LED under cabinet" lights ().The good:Plugs right in and easy setupVery thin - Can be hidden under the lip of the cabinet4 distinct brightness controls (also a con because there is no "middle" adjustment)Cons:The two wires are plugged in on opposite sides of the plug (power cable/light connection). Makes mounting in a corner impossible. The dimmer had to be moved away from the front corner of the cabinet I wanted to mount it at. Not a big deal - just my pet peeve with less than ideal design. It would have been far better to have the input and output on the same side of the dimmer.Will not work with a timer (has to be manually turned back on by pressing the button - no memory of last setting)4 light level controls by pressing the button once at a timeAll in all this is a decent dimmer for a very simple installation. I tried this and it didn't work for my needs. I ended up buying the "PWM Dimming Controller For LED Lights or Ribbon, 12 Volt 8 Amp, 3301" from Amazon. That one worked almost perfectly for my needs.

I am offering my highest praise for these products. They were very easy to install and they look great. I would also like to note that they have terrific customer service. When I purchased these one of the questions answered on Amazon was about dimming these lights. It stated that it could be dimmed. I assumed that I could connect the transform to a dimmer but that was not the case. When I wrote them on the question forum they reached out to me via email and explained what needed to be done. They even researched the Zwave switch I have to make sure it was compatible. All this was done in short order. I ended up buying a dimmer from them and it works beautifully. I can't recommend these products enough.I purchased several different items in addition to this one, I am posting the same review on.

Works well. I installed two of them on two different setups, and they have both been working flawlessly for the past 3 months. It allows all LED bars in the entire chain to perform at less than maximum output. My only gripe is that the pictures only show the dimmer switch, but it also comes with a 4" interconnect cable. I did not know this, so I ordered a separate 4" cable, and now I have an extra that I do not need and the shipping on a return will cost more than the cable.
