After a colleague had a MAJOR leak that caused a lot of damage, I decided to get water leak sensors and picked the YoLink ones after a lot of reading/research. So far (about a month), I've been very happy with them. They were easy to set up and connect, and I tested each one by setting it in water to be sure it worked. All triggered a leak alert to my phone. We bought this starter kit as well as additional sensors to cover all anticipated leak locations at home. We connected the hub via ethernet to our router for stability and so far, all has worked well and has provided peace of mind for a reasonable cost. Initially, we had some trouble with losing the Internet connection, but then I discovered that it works best when plugged in using the actual plug - not just inserting the USB end into my power strip. Using the actual plug provides more stable power and since doing that, I have not had trouble with losing the Internet connection. When our Internet goes down (e.g. a storm or a need for a reboot), the YoLink router comes back smoothly most of the time. If it doesn't, unplug the hub from the router, reboot the router, then plug the modem & router back in, plugging the hub back in last.

I don’t usually think much about water leaks, until one nearly turned into a very expensive problem. Instead of finding out 10 days after, I was able to act immediately. I called a friend who had a spare key, asked him to check the house, and he quickly shut off the main water supply. That one alert likely prevented what could have been thousands of dollars in damaged floors, walls, and everything in between. It turned a potential disaster into a minor inconvenience. What I appreciate most is the peace of mind it provides, especially when you’re not home. It’s not something you think about daily, but in situations like this, it proves its value instantly. Looking back, it’s hard not to see it as an essential part of a home setup. It’s a simple device, but one that can make a very real difference when it matters most.

Set up was super simple and the sensors work great. The Yolink notified me of a water leak in my guest house (by text) when the water heater failed and we were able to shut off the water main before any damage was done. Hub is in the main house, so I am impressed with the range of these sensors. Excellent value for the peace of mind these little devices provide. Great product!
