He suggested this book to me, as he preffered to use this specific book as the most valuable resource and guide to teaching beginners. My daughter has now been playing for 3 weeks, and even though I am fully aware her talent is partially responsible, the level at which she is playing after three weeks amazed me. Given all the factors above, I highly recommend this book as a teaching aid for violin. Review: Suzuki Violin School Volume 1 - Suzuki Violin School Volume 1 is an excellent way to start your child playing violin. The pieces are well known, part of the common repertoire, and you can play them with your child or accompany your child with the duet book that covers many pieces in Suzuki Violin School Volumes 1 and 2. Get the CD for sure if you do not play violin proficiently yourself, enlist the help of a qualified instructor and you are in for much joy listening to some beautiful music over the years. Suzuki books nicely ground your child in technique and offer very logical and natural progression with music both lyrical and rhythmic. I bought Volumes 1 and 2, and the duet accompaniment, and can highly recommend them!

The one, the only and still the greatest
To the parents of children undertaking the violin, be advised. The detractors that have reservations about the Suzuki method/book are missing two basic facts a) your child will learn how to play the violin (beautifully with some effort), and b) that this is really the only method that directly addresses the daunting task of teaching a string instrument to a child with pre-reading or early reading skills. Like it or not, agree with it or not, this is the method that your teacher will more probably than not adopt. It really does work; I have seen a string orchestra, taught by Suzuki, performing the Bach Concerto for 2 Violins in which none of the performers was over 12. Lest you read other reviews and be tempted to pass on Suzuki for some more "conventional" method, give this book and a good teacher a try, and be amazed at the skills that your child displays.

I like this edition because the 2nd violin part is on ...
I like this edition because the 2nd violin part is on two pages, rather than 3, like other editions. It's not combined with the first violin part, so there are no page turns. Some festivals or exams require original parts, so this edition is very helpful.

Great Beginner Violin Book
This was a very used book, every page had a lot of notes from the previous owner and I needed to erase the ones in pencil and staple the pages together that were worn apart .

Suzuki Violin method
I have used this material for several years and find it a good source. The only information I find lacking is that it never teaches the student to read music. Thus the student is limited to playing music s/he has heard and can replay "by ear."

I bought this for my husband who is learning to play the violin. His teacher recommended to buy this book. I think he is happy with the book.

Also top.

This book is really good for the budding violinist. I would definitely recommend this book for anyone starting playing the violin
