A lot of sound for the money!
Believe it or not this has replaced my Bose Revolve Plus. I had the Bose for a while but I was always disappointed with the bass. Whilst Bose have made a good product, there is only so much sound a single driver can produce. I felt a bit short changed with the Bose so I looked at other cheaper options that could provide descent sound quality. I saw the Flare had been released but I waited for this Flare + for the extra oomph it had. I’m glad I did wait. Overall I’m extremely happy with this purchase. The sound stage can be strange, as it’s not a ‘proper’ 360 degree speaker. Whilst placement of the speaker is important, it’s not the be all and end all as it manages to provide room filling sound at higher volumes. The bass button works well and does provide an extra boost. I leave mine on all the time as it sounds quite flat without it on. The app is useful and easy to navigate and it enables any updates to be pushed to the speaker. I use the default EQ setting as this provides a good balance of highs and lows. You can also control the ‘lightshow’ from the app which has a remarkable amount of settings to choose from. Sound wise, the Flare + can hold its own against speakers much higher in price. To my non-audiophile ears it can certainly get loud, easily as loud as my Bose. There’s also no distortion at max volume. The battery has been excellent, seems to hold a charge forever at 50% volume. The lights aren’t just a gimmick either, put them in the bedtime setting and some music on at low volume and you’ve got a nice chilled setting. Build quality is excellent. Compared to the Bose, it does lose out here. It doesn’t feel as premium but it’s 2.5 times cheaper! The build feels compatible to something like the JBL range. So if you’re happy with the build of them you’ll be happy with this. If this speaker had a different badge on, it’d cost twice as much. The fact Anker can make something as decent as this at this price point makes you question other manufacturers pricing.

Great for home & holiday use
After trying out a JBL Charge 3 (a knock-off bought on the cheap in Phuket), I decided to try a genuine bluetooth speaker with the option for stereo. During my research I was impressed by the the specifications and positive reviews for the Flare+ so I bought one in April 2019. The sound quality and solid, sturdy construction, battery life and ease of use lived up to the hype, and it performed well with my Amazon and Spotify playlists, as well as all the old CDs I've ripped to my smartphone. So I was very pleased when in December a reconditioned Flare+ came up on Amazon. Taking advantage of a money-off promotion on the Amazon credit card, I got my second one - for almost half the price of a new one. It's indistinguishable from the first in terms of packaging, condition on arrival and performance. Now they're a core part of my everyday life. I usually have them both in my home office, playing low volume chill lounge while I work. I take one downstairs with me when I have breakfast and it also comes outside with me when I fancy a spot of gardening or reading in the sun. They both even come on holiday with me - so far Thailand, Abu Dhabi, France, London, Mexico. They get much more use than the hotel TVs and I pack my original one for the beach, where my friends love listening to my 70s, 80s, 90s, pop, rock and indie playlists while they soak up the sun, sea, sand and drinks (I'm surprised they haven't bought their own yet!). It's now a little faded from exposure to the sun but there have been no other adverse effects. Highly recommended.

Amazing Speaker! Update
For it's price you can't go wrong: I put it through its paces with various music genres. Classical, EDM, pop etc, no distortion at high volumes, strings, percussion, brass and winds were clear and on point. No latency over bluetooth as I noticed. Also the build quality is excellent, feels heavy and solid in the hand. Very well put together and no fear or anything breaking. Update: Eight months on this speaker received a bunch of firmware and app updates. Battery lasts for ages on a full charge, powers off itself if left idle, and the many light modes it offers make it pleasantly relaxing to look at in the dark, especially to soothing music. Overall I will never buy any speaker again, apart from this one. Love my Soundcore Flare to bits: it will serve me well for a very long time. This will not disapoint.

All is good, but connecting was a bit tricky
Overall,I live it. The sound is good and bass is ok. It can easily fill a big living room with sound, but at 80%+ volume it gets a bit distorted. However, I had problems connecting my device to it. For those, who get this message aswell, "incorrect passkey or PIN", keep restarting the bluetooth on your speaker until it pops up as a media device in your phones bluetooth, not as a computer or something else.

Awesome Anker!
Originally very impressed by Soundcore Mini, I bought 2. I 'm a fan of Anker products anyway, so then decided to try the Anker Flare Mini. Couldn't believe such a small speaker could produce such excellent sound! Then I saw all the excellent reviews of the Anker Soundcore Flare & Flare+, why not I thought! Went for the Flare+ (bought 2 for the stereo sound) and what awesome speakers they are! Sound quality, style and value for money...10/10! The positive reviews are very well-deserved. In over 50+ years of buying record players, hi-fi systems and bluetooth speakers, my new Flare+ speakers are the best value and quality for money I've ever had!

Pros: -Punchy sound for such a compact speaker -Full waterproofing mitigates poolside disasters -Well-designed, easy to use smartphone app Cons: -Priced a little on the high side -Clunky voice control compared to smart speakers Anker's Soundcore Flare is a portable waterproof speaker — fully submergible in water, no less, so you’re safe if some idiot kicks it into your swimming pool at one of your many pool parties. Lucky you. That aside, this is a Bluetooth enabled, wireless, rechargeable speaker whose key features include relatively rich sound, a ‘soundstage’ mode and its ‘beat-driven light show’. That’s basically a multi-colour ring of light at the bottom of the cylinder that can be programmed, via a smartphone app, between a calming single-colour glow and a technicolour flash dance. It’s a nice touch, albeit a novelty. There’s a good chance you’re looking at this simply because you want a reasonably priced and compact external speaker for your phone or MP3 player, with decent sound quality and battery life. If that is the case, this is a satisfying little unit whose build quality, portability, battery life, ease of use and surprisingly punchy sound make it easy to recommend. The waterproofing is an excellent feature for peace of mind too. Being able to take calls feels more like a bonus feature than a deal breaker. I really wish there was a USB type-C charging port here. We’re already towards the end of 2019 and the USB type-C standard has been popular for nearly three years. It’s time to adapt.

Absolument INCROYABLE !

Originally ordered 1, but after a couple of days, I ordered another. Was looking for a newer Portable Bluetooth speaker to replace my Creative speaker, which was getting a bit long in the tooth (pardon the pun). I am not an audiophile, but I do know decent sound when I hear it, and these deliver! So lets get started, shall we? First Impressions; 1) Anker put a lot of time into the packaging and presentation. The box has a sleeve which slides off. Nice. 2) upon opening the box, you are greeted with another box which contains the manual and a USB cable. Not just thrown in there as some companies do. Kudos to Anker again. 3) The speaker itself is wrapped in a plastic bag, and is cradled in a molded plastic shell for protection during storage/shipment. Kudos again. 4) I love the styling of the curved tube shape with the cloth covering. This lends a more modern approach instead of a plastic shell which a lot of manufacturers still produce. Setup; 1) The instruction manual is basically a series of cartoon type diagrams. If you've ever put together Ikea stuff, you'll have no issues. If you're the type who needs written instructions, you may have to go to their web site. 2) Charge the speaker first. I used a wall socket and USB charger. Took maybe 2 hours for a full charge. Probably slower if you use a PC or powerbank, but for 20 hrs play time, not bad at all. 3) Download the app from the Playstore (if you're using Android) 4) Speaker paired to my phone as any other Bluetooth device. Performance; 1) This little speaker rocks! The sound is clear, and the bass performs well for a speaker of it's size. Like any other speaker, you will get distortion at highest volume. But at low and upper middle range, it's clear as a bell. 2) The LED lights have several settings. Music sync is the default. I prefer the gradual glowing effect. This can be controlled via the speaker button or the app. 3) 360 sound. Believe it or not, this actually works! Walking around the speaker results in little if any sound loss! 4) Twin speakers. As I ordered an additional speaker, they needed to be paired together. This simply involves holding the pairing buttons on the speakers for 3 seconds or so until they flash, then pair together. It shows up in the phone as 1 device. 5) Now we're really rocking! I have them sitting on the island in my kitchen, and the sound is fantastic no matter where I walk. There's also the advantage of placing one in the kitchen, and the other in the living room! 6) When you power off 1 device, I swear the other powers off by itself (too many X-Mass Spirits, so will check this feature again) Things I noticed. As with any bluetooth audio device, you will hear times when the audio almost goes silent. This is most likely caused by notifications on your phone such as SMS, WhatsApp etc. Also, I noticed 2 or 3 times during a long session, there would be a break in a song for a second or 2, then continue normally. This is most likely phone related as I get it on Bluetooth headphones sometimes as well. Keep in mind that my test phone is about 4 years old, and runs an older version of Bluetooth. Eventually I will run it from my Pixel 4. A lots of folks complain it's the speaker, but in reality it's most likely the phone. The App. OK, this is probably the weakest point of the device. There's really not a lot of functionality other than controlling the lights and a sub par EQ. I just used a pre-set and used the EQ on my phone. If you're an Android user, and you run Viper4Android, this will really bring the sound out as we all know. But for now, I use MX Player Pro for my audio app. I'll probably uninstall the Anker app as it is pretty much wasted space and not really needed. All in all, I am highly satisfied with these speakers. However, keep in mind, we're talking less than $100 (my second one was on sale for $75. So if you're an audiophile who's looking for perfection and blast the windows out, then you'll need to shell out a ton more money on a high quality home system, and most likely won't have the portability. I can take these out to the shop and keep on rocking without missing a beat. Again, Big Kudos to Anker for a fine product!
