Is this basically for dishes and cutlery? Not really for pots or pans huh

yes, generally for your normal dishes, cups, and cutlery. However, I have been able to fit a few small pots and pans in mine without issue. Also, as another responder noted "it leave dishes unfinished and leaks everywhere". Mine has never leaked, and I rinse everything before washing in the unit.

Can this wash large pots and pans if they're the only two things in there?

I have been washing a 5 quart pot in mine along with the lid with no issues. The only thing I have not been able to wash in it so far is my pizza pans, because they are too tall for the inside.

How noisy is the unit while it's running?

This unit is not noisy at all. As it’s a machine, it can’t be called “quiet”, but the sound of it running wouldn’t prevent you from having a conversation or even sleep at night. Unfortunately I do not know the decibel level.

Does it indicate where it is in the cycle (washing, rinsing, drying) or when it's finished?

I think you have to observe which of the four little dots is illuminated.
