The strap is really nice to have, and feels very sturdy. Just make sure you install it in the right orientation the first time. The sound quality is very, very good, and stays good at high volume. Not quite good enough for an absolute purist audiophile, but way better than the typical listener might expect or need in order to be satisfied. The ULT button is useful, but I recommend using the graphic equalizer on your phone to fine tune it, if you can. Battery life is great as long as you aren't pushing the volume to max or almost max all day. The lights are a bit bright but you can turn them off, or dim them in the app, and even change the pattern they move in. There are several useful features in the app, but I recommend printing the user manual from Sony's website. Also recommend getting a silicone cover and a zippered carrying case. Overall I feel this is the most practical and useful portable speaker I've ever had.

This Sony speaker has turned out to be an excellent purchase. The sound is top-tier, with great power, and the Bluetooth connection works flawlessly. Although it is a bit heavy, I take it with me every day because it is incredibly useful. What stands out the most is the battery life: it lasts through my entire night shift until 7:00 AM and still has charge left over. I am completely satisfied with the quality and performance of this device; it is truly worth every penny I paid for it

I was pleasantly surprised by this speaker. The sound quality is real good for a portable speaker. I’m going to consider it portable because it has a well thought out strap and you can take it places with you. It is kind of heavy and large, but the dimensions are in the product description so nothing that I didn’t already know. The build quality of this speaker is top notch. When you hold it in your hand you feel like you got something for your money. The materials look and feel good, and the bass speakers in the end are well protected and punchy. I use this on a sailboat, pontoon boat, camping trips, and in the backyard. It just works and sounds great everywhere. I have gotten it wet and used it in very dusty environments with no issues. As far as sound goes, I’m not sure you could beat it with a speaker the same size or price. It is crisp and bass sounds good. At 100% volume it gets a little out of control but that is almost every speaker on the market. The battery life is all day with no issues. It has never died and I have used it for 10+ hours straight.

Best sounding Bluetooth speaker I've ever owned, hands down. Sounds good outside even. Battery life is fantastic. It is heavy, but it comes with a nice strap for carrying it.

I kept the Ultimate Ears but if I had known that they were a Logitech Brand I would have never bought them. Logitech drivers aren't that great imo. Also I want to say I bought the Sony Ult 5 on sale at $250 which is a complete steal. $50 extra more than the Ultimate Ears but they sound a lot better and also get way louder at lower volumes while keeping clarity. The only thing the Ultimate Ears have better are the mids and I will say that they produce them very well out of the box but once you EQ the Sony's, they will be better overall. Enough comparisons, the Sony Ult Field 5 is a small to medium size Bluetooth speaker that is very capable of providing music for a whole backyard and annoying your neighbors (perfect!). I listen to them at about over half volume and they are very loud with great clarity. Out of the box they sound good but go through the 3 settings and see what works for you. The 3 "sound" settings can be selected by pressing the big ULT button or doing it in the app I suggest the app since the button will play this loud blasting noise when pressed. First setting (no lights on button) I think is a flat EQ, second setting is for more bass (sounds bad imo), third setting is the best if you don't want to EQ the speaker yourself, I think it just boosts everything up but its too much bass so I ended up EQing it myself in the app with the custom EQ option. My EQ settings are 0002234433 and I listen to EDM and Rock - Metal stuff and that seems to be the best for me. The speaker is very well built and has some weight to it so use that carrying strap. The carrying strap is kind of cool as it can extend to be a shoulder sling or shortened to like a small bag handle and to put them in just pull up the rubber covers and hook the strap into the loop. Battery life is pretty great, I seem to charge them like maybe 2 or 3 times a month depending on usage. My usage is anywhere from either an hour a day or if its outdoor then it could be hours on endless playback and still not need a charge. Charging is really fast too. I am not sure of the actual time but it feels like an hour or 2 for full charge but I do have a really nice charging block so that affects things a little bit. Also I am not sure when Sony finally allowed it but you can use it while its being charged unlike past speakers. Physical buttons include power, bluetooth, connect to other sony speakers, play/pause, volume, and ULT and also an AUX input behind the small back cover, yes an AUX input!!! You will need the app to access more settings of the speaker and it is worth downloading. I can't say much about the connect feature where you connect to other speakers but I would assume it is awesome and better to piss the neighbors off but at that point you might as well build a nice budget portable stereo system. All in all the Sony ULT Field 5 is worth it at $250 for being a bluetooth speaker. Anything around the $200 mark will not sound as good or produce the same stage presence as the ULT Field 5s. 4/5 product and will definitely recommend for anyone who wants a good bluetooth speaker. ---------------------

We have a really nice setup at home to listen to music with speakers in all the rooms, but I prefer simplicity, nothing beats how easy it is to play music from this Sony ULT 5. Just one button press, then play the music from my phone. And the sound quality is great.

I use this when I practice saxophone for backing tracks. I also use in my home gym for workout music. It holds a charge very long and the sound is very clear. It is waterproof (sometimes I workout outside) so I don’t have to worry if a flash rain 🌧️ occurs! The only con I can think of is it may be too large for some people. (This won’t fit in your purse); however, it comes with an adjustable shoulder strap for carrying. Good reliable product!

I am by no means a stereo audio officianado and recognize that speaker quality and sound is very subjective....however the sound this speaker puts out is amazing and beautiful! It really sounds and feels like a high quality speaker from lows through highs.It is a little heavy to tote around however I use it in my front courtyard to listen to my Dodger games and Smooth Jazz. I have been wanting this speaker eversince it came out and I am soo happy I finally pulled the trigger on this Sony as opposed to the JBL CHARGE 6. You won't be disappointed!

Don't get Confused just buy it, you won't regret. Sound quality is top notch, great clarity for a bluetooth speaker. It supports HIRes bluetooth codec like LDAC not many speakers have these although you need to be a android user. For better experience and comparison i suggest to visit store to experience the by yourself. For portability, it is heavy like 3.3kg but solder strap is given and with solder strap the portability is not an issue. Battery life of this speaker is also good and you can use external power source like ac adaptor also with type c and get extra boost on bass and volume. Party light is also very cool. Overall is a great speaker total value for money in this price, (better sound than JBL xtreme 4). Build quality of this very top notch, have ip67 rating. In the functionality, the Sony's party connect is there if you have Sony's other speakers which have this feature. Can connect two same speakers as in stereo although the speaker it self is stereo. In the back io panel there is also a aux in port for audio and the speaker can be a powerbank to charge your phone. All these things which make this speaker great in functionality. NOTE : In the back I/O panel 3.5mm port was given but sound amplifier doesn't work i.e volume is low compared to bluetooth. Same thing is also applied when you try your custom band eq in sound connect app. Apart from this everything is excellent and i am telling you this after 5 months of usage.

I have been using the Sony ULT Field 5 for almost a year now, and I’m very happy with it. The sound quality is excellent, with clear vocals and powerful, deep bass. Even at higher volumes, the sound remains impressive. After a year of regular use, the speaker is still performing very well. The build quality is solid, Bluetooth connectivity is reliable, and the battery backup is good. If you enjoy bass-heavy music and want a powerful portable speaker with great sound quality, this is definitely worth buying. Very satisfied with my purchase and would highly recommend it!

I own the XV-800 so very familiar with Sony. Was going to JBL Xtreme as I've used one during camping but wanted to give this a try. This is very high end to the touch and even when connected, you can sense the superior feeling. The ULT feature is noticeable and it's nice that I can switch between heavy bass, good mids to clear vocals depending on what I'm listening too. The strap is nice but surprised the metal loop isn't full built oppose to the current slide-slip way to install it. Hasn't slipped off but was nervous at times as I didn't want to drop it. The drivers perform great and I like how the ends are raised meaning while music is on full plastic, you can stack the speaker upright and the moving driver doesn't get distorted when flat on surface. Haven't tested it outdoors yet and truthfully don't plan too. Mainly using it for indoors, beach when the weather gets better and during camping. The battery life is amazing, since buying and to this post, just charged it for the first time as I finally got the low battery verbal signal. Use it daily for about an hour on ULT and mix with the lights on. Planning on pairing it with my 800 eventually. Very satisfied.
