Really enjoy it. Adds a lemony taste. No overpowering shrimp paste taste. Need to be used combine to a regular pho broth. Would not recommend on its own

I recently moved down south and the closest authentic Vietnamese restaurant is an hour away. There are a couple more americanized spots but they don't sell Bun Bo Hue, which is by far my favorite dish. So the other night I thought I'd just make my own. Well, there were a number of ingredients that I couldn't get my hands on. So I did a quick search to see if there were any alternative methods which is how I stumbled upon this product. I knew it wasn't going to be the real deal but I figured for the price, it was worth a try. And WOW, I am impressed!! It's great as is but I like my Bun Bo Hue a bit spicier and sweeter so I doctored it up a bit with a few ingredients I had on hand. SO GOOD and HUGE time saver! Give it a try. You won't be disappointed!

I used this to make a modified bun bo hue with a few beef bones, a ham bone, glass noodles, thin beef slices, tripe, and sliced pork belly. Garnished with herbs, bean sprouts, lime, and sriracha. I found this compound to have a pronounced shrimpy flavor that I’m not used to with my local pho shops, I don’t mind. It was still a good flavor. The English directions are easy to follow and produce an excellent 2 gallons of soup with bold flavor.
