Great tool

Works very good. I just think the company has a hold on the market and is charging more than the device is worth.

I have been using device for couple months. No problems, easy to use and does what it is suppose to do.

If you are familiar with the hand wheel, you know how much easier it became to use a hand wheel versus trying to use a tape measure. This tool is the next step up and contains a lot of great features, and in my opinion is a MUST-HAVE for anyone taking distances. I had previously used Jamar and Numetrics, and couldn't believe initially how easy it was to install, that I was intially skeptical about the product. After giving it a shot and simply mounting the device on the dashboard and plugging in the power, I was delighted to see a "0" on the screen. As I started to move the vehicle, the count began increasing, and measured perfectly, without any calibration!PROS:1. Installation is a breeze! It literally took me 1 minute to hook up. There's simply just power and a GPS antenna that you can either place on your dash or on top (great thing is its also magnetic).2. EASY TO USE! Ready to measure after simply turning it on.3. Accurate, I believe this product is the first of its kind, so its had a lot of time perfecting. I found it to be accurate to AT LEAST 2 foot per mile, even on gravel roads where the other DMIs failed.4. Much faster than any other measuring method.5. Simple buttons to change units, stop, and clear.6. Really neat other features such as birds view distance, which basically tells you a straight line distance from point A to point B.7. High contrast display and great form factor. The instrument feels as though its well made and will last a while.8. Great support if you have any questions!9. No complicated wiring using magnets or going through the engine block. I believe the Fast Measure mentioned by the other reviewer requires installation of magnets on the drive shaft.CONS:1. The GPS antenna cable is lengthy if your placing the antenna simply on the dash, but you can roll up the excess cabling.2. I haven't found a way to make it operate in silent mode, so it doesn't beep for every key you hit. Maybe its there, but I couldn't find it. I simply put a piece of scotch tape on the opening of the speaker to reduce the volume.Overall, a great product and has saved our company lots of time. I'd recommend purchasing this to anyone who needs a foot meter.

I bought this item direct from mfg and got it for about 70 bucks cheaper than on Amazon. I use this DMI for utility engineering and it works as good or better than the nitestar I used many years ago. GPS makes it a snap to install and can be easily removed at the end of the day and tucked away in your gear bag. The instruction manual was easy to read and I was ready to use it after leafing through it for a few minutes.I called the mfg a few times and they always answered the phone and took the time to answer my inquiries. The product was well packaged to survive everything UPS could do to it on it's way to your doorstep.

This measure device worked alright but is to complicated and to many buttons, we tried the Fast Measure brand and found it easier to use and install then the dot-z1, it was less expensive to.

My work made this purchase. This is a terrific little gadget. Not hard to get used to, small package makes storage and delivery easy, does not need professional installation and this can be moved from vehicle to vehicle. I have not come across a negative yet. I still need to figureout the part of what it can do when my computer is connected. A++++++
