I am a bit perplexed that this claims to be 10x hotter than standard pepper. I don't know if I've got an off batch, but I couldn't detect any heat in these peppercorns at all. They have a lovely smell and flavour, but hotness is not part of it. If anything, I'd say that they are ten times LESS hot than standard black peppercorns.For anyone who is interested in trying these, a bit more feedback:- if it weren't for the delivery costs, the price would be about twice as great as for ordinary black pepper. With the delivery, it's about ten times as expensive. I can recommend them on the basis of the first differential, but not on the second (I grouped mine with other purchases, so that I only got stung for delivery once)-they have a lovely perfumed aroma and delicate flavour. Not at all what I was expecting, but still very pleasant. I might even call it delicious. I don't regret this purchase in the slightest, even given the slight disappointment that these aren't spicy (I ended up putting about ten times as much of this on as I would normal pepper, just to get a hint of pepper kick - it's yummy, but very expensive if you have to use ten times as much!!)- they are bigger than normal peppercorns, and much more friable. I don't know if that's the inherent nature of these peppercorns, or something to do with the manufacturing process. Anyway, if you put them in a standard pepper mill, you will get a lot more dust and fine particles that you would for the same settings for standard pepper. it's not a problem, but just to be aware of in case you like big pepper flakes rather than dust.- it leaches a beautiful purpley-red colour on to light/white coloured foods. I think this might be my favourite thing about it - it's a really lovely colour, like beetroot or blackberry juice (the peppercorns look black in the bottle, but the colour that comes out of them is purple-y).So, overall conclusion - recommended for spice addicts, but not necessarily for heat addicts!Hopefully this product will become more popular so that the price can come down! :)

I love this pepper - it has a very distinctive flavor, different from normal black pepper, that i found extremely intriguing. we also used it in gin based cocktails and it gives them a nice kick. It does not go well with every dish but once you try it I am sure yu will find it irreplaceable on aromatic or spicy dishes for examples. I love it also on poached fish

A superb product
