I had a digital thermometer, which I always thought was too short, so food always had to be taken out of the oven to be measured. When it finally died, I looked at lots of replacement options, and liked the reviews for this one. I find I agree that it's a five-star aid in the kitchen. The unit is comfortable to hold, has a long probe, reads quickly, and seems quite accurate. I like that if allows for calibration - which took just minutes to do. It reads quickly, and the "hold" feature is helpful so that the reading doesn't change when you take the probe out of the food. I noticed a battery packed in the box, and assumed I'd need to insert it into the thermometer. But in fact, it's an extra. When I opened the probe, the thermometer was powered and working. Also in the box were some velcro tabs, which can be used to stick the thermometer in a convenient spot. But it also has a magnet if you want to stick it to the fridge, or on another metal surface in the kitchen. There's also a handy meat cooking temperature guide inside the box. It's responsive, providing a fast, easy-to-see temperature reading. Backlighting makes it easier to read in low light at the touch of the button. Hoping it lasts a long time. So far, it's a very good, reasonably priced thermometer that's very handy to have in the kitchen.

As a bloke that loves to smoke meat, very good product. Works well with Steaks on the BBQ also.

Solid product. Have tested that it works and looking forward to using it in cooking. Please note, the unit only activates when you extend the probe, otherwise no button pushing switches it on, which is a good feature. Being magnetic to store on the fridge is super convenient.

I've had this thermometer for over a year now, and use it a lot, as I work performing cooking shows with taste testings and sampling, despite being hauled around with me, it still works perfectly.

Bought this meat thermometer as a replacement for one I had that was broken. The one I had no longer displayed correctly. I think it got wet and was not waterproof. This meat thermometer is way better than my old one. I really like how easy it is to use. It automatically turns on when you unfold it and turns off when you fold it back up. It came w/ a meat temperature guide that I kept as a reference, but the temperatures are also right on the body of the thermometer. Feels sturdy and well made. Doesn't look or feel cheap. Easy to clean because it's waterproof. (I haven't tested this out yet, but other reviewers have said it is waterproof.) Came with an extra battery, which is nice. Can clearly read the temperature on the large screen. The screen has a backlight, which is also nice and makes reading the screen even easier. Takes the temperature immediately and accurately. The hold button is a nice feature that wasn't on my old meat thermometer. You can take the temperature of your meat, press the hold button, and pull the thermometer out, and the screen will hold the temperature. Comes w/ velcro to attach it to a surface, but it's also magnetic, so I just have it stuck to my fridge, which is right behind me if I'm standing at the stove. Super convenient. Good price. I'm really happy w/ my purchase.
