The Taylor service complete pool water test kit is well worth the money. I was able to verify a salt concentration conflict, which saved me from having to drain water from my pool. I used this type of kit back in the 80’s and 90’s. It very accurate. A good backup to test strips.

I hesitated because of the price, but this kit has been worth every penny. The tests are easy to run once you get the hang of them, and the results are much more detailed than test strips or pool store testing. It's helped me keep my pool crystal clear and avoid buying chemicals I didn't need. If you're serious about maintaining your own pool, this kit is a must-have.

We bought a house w an inground huge fiberglass pool last year and we’re new to pool ownership. I had been using test strips and hated that I really didn’t know what the pool chemistry numbers were since the strips only show a color and an approximation. Last summer I would battle w cloudy water off and on and even saw an erratic brownish- tan stain forming on the floor of my otherwise pristine white fiberglass pool. But my test strips always confirmed my pools chemistry were in the ideal color ranges. After much reading online and trying everything recommended to identify and remove the stain last year, but to no avail, I was determined to try again this pool season and hoped there wasn’t any permanent staining from it lasting a year. So I bought this test kit. Read the included booklet cover to cover. That booklet was the most informative pool chemistry info I had seen. I read countless blogs, forums, and pool sites and that little 60 pg booklet taught me more than anything else. It has the appropriate amount of detail on how to balance the chemistry and each section breaks down some specific details that are necessary for every single pool owner to understand. For example, the section on PH let me know that for a fiberglass pool I need to maintain 7.6 not a range of 7.2 - 7.8 but a strict adherence to 7.6 and that maintaining my pools PH was the first and most fundamental action I need to take. The booklet stated that outside of 7.6 the pool can get stains. Aha, I thought! Finally I was getting closer to getting the stain out. The booklet even confirmed that my stain was due to iron. I ordered Jacks blue and bought a culator for the pumps skimmer basket and the stain was gone by slowly disappearing over the course of two weeks. I was doing the passive approach since we have a heater and a more aggressive stain removal process is not recommended. All this pool season my pool has been crystal clear without the need for a bunch of chemicals or adding clarifier. It is because I test PH and chlorine 2 x a week and others as recommended by the book, like some are once a month or once every two months. I thought my pool was in balance w the test strips misguided color coding but really my pool was out of whack which was why the iron staining occurred in the first place. The test kit has reagents that help you to know just how much of a chemical you need to add to achieve balance. For instance, if you’re testing PH and it’s low it has an included reagent that you drop in the tube and count the drops needed to change color. Then use the booklet PH page chart and line up drops needed with your pool size to get an accurate dosing to bring pool back in balance. No more guessing. No trial and error. It tells you what to measure, what to adjust first, how long to wait between adjustments, etc. Buy this kit. Read the book. Buy some plastic syringes to get pool water easily and quickly and to accurately measure to the line on the tubes in the kit. I bought syringes, a 10 pack thru Amazon for like $5 at the same time I bought this kit. I washed everything before use and after use with hot water. I perform my tests at the laundry room sink counter so I can fill the tubes w syringes of pool water and wash out in between each test at the sink. It’s easy. It’s accurate. This kit says it’s for pros but really all pool owners need to be a pro at balancing pool chemistry

We used to have a pool guy come once a week. I don't think he ever tested the water, and for sure the pH wasn't right because our eyes were always red. With the help of this kit, that's no longer a problem and our water is crystal clear. This kit does everything I need and want it to do, and overall I am quite happy with it. The basic instructions are printed right on the inside of the cover, which is great. I also like the pamphlet that gives you more information (if you want it) about pool chemistry and maintenance, and I appreciate the dial/manual calculator to assist in balancing the water. (I won't bore you here with what that means, but if you are really interested, you can read about it in the pamphlet!) I only have one complaint. Some of the stuff that may be in your water (high chlorine, sanitizer, or metals) can disrupt the testing. (For example, I was trying to go from green to red, and the water only turned yellow.) If you don't know this, it will drive you nuts. (Why? Why won't you turn red? Why?) I wish that when you opened the kit for the first time, there was some way they told you about these potential difficulties.

This Taylor test kit is very thorough and provides accurate, consistent results. The instructions are clear, and the included reagents cover all major water chemistry needs. It’s ideal for anyone who wants precise control over pool water quality. Everything is neatly organized in the case, making it easy to store and use. Highly recommended for serious pool maintenance.

1. If you do A LOT of pool chemistry then get the "C" version of the kit, otherwise, save yourself the extra cost and get the regular sized version. Several reagents have self lives of a year so overbuying just wastes money. 2. The kit Poolzilla sold contained reagents that were already 2 months old. So my kit won't even last me through next season because the seller sold me an old kit at full price. 3. The tests are pretty involved. They're not above high school chemistry level, but testing your water won't be a quick process. For those who seek this kit for it's increased accuracy, you probably already knew that. For those who were recommended this kit to troubleshoot your pool, just realize that the tests are more time intensive. 4. You do get a more complete picture of your water chemistry than more basic kits. If you have a basic kit and are troubleshooting your pool, consider buying the individual tests you're looking for instead of this kit. If you're looking to increase your understanding of your pool chemistry on a routine basis, this kit is going to get you there, just don't overbuy for your seasonal usage. 5. I was disappointed with the cyanuric acid test. The measurement scale doesn't extend beyond the recommended range so if your CYA is high or low, you have no idea by how much to try and correct it. This is extremely disappointing and a significant failure of this kit because high CYA can lock Cl2 and knowing how much water to remove/replace is useful information. Based on the value I expect to get from this kit I'm not yet sure if I would buy again. I definitely won't buy from the seller, Poolzilla, who sold me old chemicals again. In fact, I'm considering a return because of the chemicals won't last me a full season.

Received the K-2006C Test kit. The comparator was assembled with upside down readings and the CYA scale is unreadable. Contacted Taylor directly to see if they will replace this defective part of the kit as these test kits are not returnable via Amazon. Update: Changing rating to 5 stars. Contacted Taylor directly and they are going to send a replacement. Their response was immediate and communication was outstanding.

If you have a chlorine hot tub, and have been using test strips and wondering if you're nailing the chemistry, then look no further than the Taylor test kit. We bought a new Master Spa hot tub about a month ago, and we mucked around with test strips for the first few weeks, not quite sure if the water was right, and dealing with some cloudiness / white film buildup / calcium hardness. Finally, I decided to break out the Taylor test kit and read the manual. I also watched a few videos - check out Sergii on YT - he has a video on how to use it. Once you do it once or twice, it's super easy to use. I've had my water balanced since, and feel way more confident in the chlorine level. The book provides tables to tell you how much of each chemical to use to address your chlorine / ph / alkalinity / calcium, and to measure your cyanuric acid (remember to use the % of your tub size compared to the table's volume - e.g. my 1,438L tub was 0.719% of a 2000L tub they reference in the table, so multiply your quantities by your tub's % of the displayed tub volume options). Sure, it's more expensive than test strips, but your tub cost you $, and you're wasting that money not using it if your chemistry is off, so pay the extra for the test kit. Good luck - it's easy. Oh, and buy some distilled water to rinse your measuring device in the kit between chemical tests - might as well be as accurate as possible.
