PanamaxM8-EX 8 AC Outlet Surge Protector - Silver

I bought cheap surge protectors in the past. My ceiling fan stopped working. I check the power going to it, and notice 120v on the red and black line, there should only be power on the red line, and the black is a ground. After many hours, isolating the circuit this problem existed on, removing all the outlets on that circuit, and unplug everything, I found a cheap surge protector was the problem. Once I unplugged it, problem solved. Some sort of internal issue in the surge protector was causing power on both lines, and the fact it didn't pop my circuit breaker was weird. Never have I seen such an issue in my life. Also, in the past during a lightning storm I had a TV and Tivo blow out, another cheap surge protector. I have learned my lesson. I first bought a high end Panamax (M5300-PM) protector for my entertainment center, then others like the MR5100. I also own several Panamax surge protectors, smaller ones like the M8-EX. It has been 3+ years now, and never a signal issue. Panamax is not cheap in price, but a lot cheap then the issues I had happen to me with other cheap surge protectors. Monster power supply is another really good company to purchase from; I have one of their large surge protectors HTS 5100 MKII. However, Monster is very expensive. Panamax is the middle of the road choice in price that has worked for years now for me. Their products are not cheap, but not Monster expensive.

This is a well made unit that replaced something less heavy duty. If you have a lot of cables, as I do, this will suit your needs better than the $20 ones.Note that I do not know the quality of surge protection at this point.

This is a quality, well built unit, with an intelligent layout of sockets. We're using it to protect our refrigerator from brownouts.

I bought this unit to replace a 30 year old line filter for my stereo system. It also has the benefit of lightning / power surge protection, low/ high voltage protection and automatic re-set when voltage corrects, which seems to be unique. Power cleaning quality for EMI and RFI made a big difference to the audio clarity, sound and detail and a big upgrade from my old line filter. I did not have the budget for a "high-end" filter but I think this unit is very effective. Of course there are units that rectify the line to DC and create "perfect AC" but they cost more than my system, so I'm very pleased with the quality/value of this unit. Design, construction and appearance are all excellent.

Este equipo tiene grandes ventajas, entre ellas cortar la corriente a bajos voltajes y tambien a altos voltajes. Es el primer multicontacto que encuentro que proteja tanto altos como bajos. Por otra parte, aunque no tiene conexiones para tv, con el simple hecho de conectar la tv a este dispositivo, se nota una imagen ligeramente mas nitida. Adicionalmente este multicontacto-acondicionador tiene un led indicador de tierra fisica y otro indicador de la condicion de la linea electrica. Anteriormente adquiri la version de 4 contactos, por ello sin dudas adquiri ahora la version de 8 contactos ya que la proteccion que ofrece solo la he encontrado en esta marca.

I have several pieces of electronic equipment that I needed to protect and also was experiencing a buzzing sound from my receiver. After I did some research the Panamax unit came in highly recommended and I am glad I used it. The noise has reduced quite significantly and I no longer have concerns about power surges damaging my equipment. I’d highly recommend it.

I used this to power a 12 amp switching DC convetor. It helped to reduce EMI/RFI noise while powering a variable output 4 channel 12volt heater controller. Noticeably less noise from MOSFETS in the controller reducing electical interference with the other ajacent electronics/WiFi Hotspot.

They could have included a mounting template. And a list of contents explaining what some parts were for would be helpful. The cord is very long and hard to stow but someone might need the length.
