WORTHLESS. They barely absorb any water.
Worthless. Assuming these are actually 100% terra-cotta, they are way too dense to absorb water. The disks weigh 2.2 ounces dry and only 2.3 ounces after being completely submerged in water for two hours. This is not nearly enough moisture to keep brown sugar soft. I have found a slice of bread to be more effective.

Love these – they work! Keeps brown sugar soft for months
I love these Fox Run brown sugar keepers. They actually work – just soak the terracotta disc in water for a few minutes, pat it dry, and bury it in your brown sugar. Keeps it soft and fresh for about 2-3 months before you need to re-wet it. No more rock-hard brown sugar chunks. The maple leaf shape is cute too. Comes as a set of 2, so you can have one in use and one ready to go. Highly recommend if you bake regularly.

Best thing since sliced bread!
We all need these for our brown sugar but they also help with many other food storage issues. I had a bag of brown sugar that was like a rick. I put two in a container and within a day, the sugar was back to norma! These are a MUST HAVE in every pantry!
