KRUPS Flat Burr Coffee Grinder 18 Settings 2-20 Cups Stainless Steel

I purchased this Krups GX450 coffee grinder after having purchased the Krups 5 cup coffee maker. I was so impressed with the coffee maker that I decided I would try a Krups coffee grinder. I have had a little coffee grinder in the past and I found it somewhat annoying to use. It was too loud, too messy, too inconsistent (no options to specify the courseness of the grind, etc.) So I saw this Krups grinder on Amazon and bought it using the like new option. This saved me some considerable money on the price. (I’ve had great success with that option with other purchases from Amazon.) The device did come in the Krups box, but it looked like it had been somewhat repackaged. It was clean and looked like new. The only weird thing is, they had a hand Xeroxed instruction manual for the smaller older model in the box, rather than the one that goes with this model. I wound up having to dig deep on the Krups website to find a downloadable version of the manual for this new device. Also, strangely on Krups‘s site, they don’t even feature this new grinder on the American website. So having used the device for a few days, I must say it’s fantastic. It works super well. It’s not deafeningly loud, and it does an excellent job of grinding the coffee to the courseness that you choose. I would say the design of this unit is greatly superior to the other model they make that is smaller. Interestingly, I have yet to see any reviews on this actual unit in Amazon that pertain to this new model. Just a word of advice if you get this machine, the method to remove the bean hopper from the machine to clean it or clear it out is not very obvious. What you need to do is rotate the whole hopper counterclockwise many times until the hopper begins to unscrew from the bottom of the unit I had to do a lot of experimentation before I figured that out. And that is not clearly indicated in the instructions at all. Overall, I highly recommend this unit. It works very well and looks great with the Krups coffee maker.

DO NOT BUY! I wish I'd read the one star reviews before purchasing this worthless machine. The concept looked brilliant but in practice the beans do not feed easily from the hopper into the burr grinder causing the machine to spin at top speed while producing no usable grinds. Nothing I tried to alleviate the problem worked. Unfortunately I discarded the box before using or I would have returned it immediately. I'm back to using my bladed grinder that quickly produces usable grinds in 1/4 of the time. So unhappy with Krups for selling this garbage on Amazon.

I have owned and used a few different brands of burr grinders which came in at various price points. This one is the only one I have owned which delivers visibly different levels of coarseness. This is important since I use cafetières ("french presses") for my coffee. These require a coarse ground coffee. Given this came in at the lower mid-range price point, that's a plus. I also like that it delivers the amount by cup size, which usually happens to be a European cup (so, two cups is about a 250ml/8oz cup). Again, this is useful if you use a cafetière since they usually are sized by volume. Bottom line for me is that this is a good value for the money from a reputable manufacturer.

Been using this for about a month now and have found it to produce inconsistent grind size. It produces a mix of fine powder with not so fine which produces pretty poor espresso. For French press I have to go up larger than I typically would or else it creates a lot of sediment. The noise it makes is just awful as far as coffee grinders go. It's earsplitting and reminds me of the noise the cheap blade grinders make. The hopper regularly stops feeding which makes producing a consistent amount difficult. It's easy to use though. There are better options out there for the same cost.

I wish I could figure out how to return this product...it is worthless and does NOT grind coffee but sure makes a hellova racket...I wasted $90. I thought KRUPS was a reputable brand especially when it came to coffee and grinding beans but this product is the worst. I bought this grinder to replace one that ground coffee but required cleaning after 4 or 5 uses...this KRUPS Grinder is soooo bad...it doesn't grind coffee but sure makes a lot of noise imitating what a GRINDER ought to sound like...AGAIN...DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS PIECE OF TRASH...REALLY...DON'T...YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!!!

This review is for the GX450 grinder, which as of Sunday, March 09, 2025, is the larger of the two grinders listed on the Amazon product page. Essentially I purchased this grinder to see if I could find a quieter grinder to my existing Shardor grinder also purchased on Amazon. The Krups unit is slightly quieter, however the noise is completely different. The problem is that the beans don't feed consistently into the grinder and the motor RPM shoots to whatever its limit. Have no ideas how the unit knows to stop grinding since a good 30-50% of the grind time could be spent waiting for a bean to hit the grinder. After pulling it apart I was shocked that the bottom of the bean hopper is essentially level, that is there is no angle to shepherd the beans to the grinder. I took the hopper off the units while it was full of beans and had to shake the beans out through the grind tunnel. Maybe this is by design so as to not overload the grinder but the fact there is a setting to choose how much ground coffee you would like, the feed should be consistent. Overall, probably going to go back to the Shardor unit and just put up with that racket as it does a much more consistent operation.
