functions well, useful tool in the words for trimming and clearing moderately sized trees. Although it is always fun and satisfying to work with a polished smooth oak handle tool, this one is utilitarian and does the job as well.

This has been very effective in my hobby-level log harvesting venture. I was offered a massive walnut tree for free if I could cut it down and remove it for the family, as they planned to build on the property. This log lifter was used primarily to move large logs as opposed to lifting them. I don't want the chain of he saw to touch the dirt, so I cut the log and roll it. This, along with the smaller clamp style lifter, are great for moving logs around. This Vevor lifter has been durable and it did not bend despite the large logs moved. I haven't had issues with paint chipping. This was a great value for the money. Easy to put together. Tighten bolts before each use. I'm very pleased with this, as I was worried about it bending or not gripping the logs.

Construction appears sturdy and mostly well designed but only 4 stars because the design fails somewhat on the slot where the log gripping arm is inserted - the slot is nearly twice the width of the metal arm and allows the arm to flop around from side to side. I had to fix this (see photo) by adding 3 large washers as spacers to fill the excess gap space and keep the arm aligned straight during use. This greatly improved operation. Manufacturer should narrow the gap to match the arm piece or provide the spacers needed.

This is an AMAZING tool. Small learning curve, but VERY easy to use. This tool cuts down on putting chains in the dirt, saving time and money. It also keeps you from having to bend over all the way, a saving your back. My only regret is not getting another one!

Heavy duty, easy to put together.

Heavier made than I was expecting....which is a good thing. Perfect sized handle and a heavy draw hook. Seems to work quite well even on heavy bark and hardwoods.

I have not used this yet but as a landscaper who uses and destroys many tools I can tell you right now this is very well built. Anyone serious about their tools first looks at the thickness of the steel so here goes. The hook, support leg, and stabilizer bar are all made of solid 3/8 steel bar stock. All the mount brackets are 3/16 on each side giving the equivalent of 3/8 thickness in terms of load. Both the main tube and the bottom foot are 1/8 tube steel with an outside diameter of 1-5/16" and are very heavy duty. My initial concern when I ordered it was about the point where the two halves of the handle connect. This is where the engineer was very clever and used a solid steel adapter which appears to go into each tube 2 inches at the connection point. Further, they used heavy machine threads on each side of adapter so it can be torqued very tightly. The connection where the threads meet begins about 1" into the lower tube and continues another inch into the lower tube, spreading the load at the connection point over about 2 inches into each segment. This is well engineered and and I am confident it will hold up. As for functionality, the diameter of the tubing is very comfortable in hand and should enhance the gripping force. The length of the tube is perfect for me to get optimum force. I am 5' 10" tall so that may be different for you if you are at a substantially different height. As for the gripping spikes on the hook and handle, they seem to be pretty sharp but obviously this is an intended wear point and may require occasional sharpening. One note for me personally is that I like the fact that they did not round the points but left them square so they will function more like a blade. As for the rubber grip, what can I say. I have dozens of high end tools and these grips are as good as any but because of the nature of the work I do they will probably go away at some point like all the others do. I will update this review once I have used it. I have about a dozen mountain beetle kill pines to take down and I plan to use the logs for projects so I would like to keep the length as long as possible. This means this tool will be tested well beyond it's rated capacity - whatever that is - as I use it to move them to a point where I can winch them out. Some of them are old growth Bristle Cone pine so I will certainly find the maximum capacity of this tool. Final note: If you are a homeowner looking for an easy to use tool to move pieces of firewood and small logs in your backyard this tool is overkill and probably heavier than the firewood itself. I probably will not use this tool for anything smaller than 8-10" diameter and shorter than 6 feet, especially if the wood is dry. I do think it is well built enough that if you are a homeowner that only uses it to remove a couple trees it will have good resale value when you are done, it is very well built.
