Does this come with the AA battery pack?

It comes with the standard battery pack, but dont waste your time or money on these. They're counterfeit and dont work

Double AA or you can get rechargeables as well as the rechargeable Xbox battery

Is there anything special I need to do for it to connect to the Xbox?

Turn on Xbox. Press the center (silver button) on the controller. There is a button below and slightly left of the power button on the Xbox unit; press and the power button light flash. Now press the tiny button on the top of the controller to the left of the power jack. The light on the controller will start flashing. The two units ares now syncing. Once connected the light on both units will stop flashing. Wait another 10 seconds and the controller should be paired to the xbox. If not try the process a second time. If it still does not pair, return the controller.
