Shan 100% pure cotton sewing thread is ideal for working on all natural fabrics including fine silk, cotton, linen and wool. This thread is suitable for seaming and neatening all materials, for basting and tacking, machine buttonholes and eyelet. For Heirloom sewing techniques including tucks, pintucks, hemstitching, attaching lace and fine edgings for example. Perfect for hand-look appliqué methods worked by machine. For all freehand embroidery work or decorative embellishment techniques including free-motion quilting particularly when used top and on the bobbin. Excellent for Patchwork as it is strong enough to hold the seams securely but easy ‘ripped’ without tearing the patchwork fabric. A fine thread with very little lint, for light to medium weight cotton fabrics or other natural fabrics. For use with machine needle size 11 or 12. Too thin for most uses
I was initially pleased to see cotton thread in natural neutral colours and looked forward to using this set of threads. Unfortunately the thread is incredibly thin and incline to tangle; it constantly snaps when used in a sewing machine, and needs to be at least doubled up and waxed to use for hand sewing. I would say it is most comparable to the spindly polyester available very cheaply online/on market stalls. I will sadly use it up as tacking (basting) thread, and will not be buying any more.

Good quality but colours quite grey based
I wanted neutral, cotton thread for sewing linen. These are very good quality but the shades are mainly grey based so we’re no good for natural coloured linen which is more beige/straw based.
