Solid entertainment, great nostalgia. We love it.
I grew up with a Skittles game being played at annual family reunions every 4th of July. I decided to get one of my own to recreate the fun for my family now. This probably isn't exactly the same as the old one, but it's exactly as much fun as I remember. I love that it's solid wood and that it's as hard to get the top to the high-point "rooms" at the end as it ever was. People may resist at first, but once they try it, they can't stop. We have had a blast with this so far. My grandkids are 4 and 6, and the 4 yr old isn't really into it, and isn't really capable anyway. The 6 yr old loves to try. (they also like to get marbles and just play "bowling" with the skittles, and why not?) This was a great purchase for us.

last minute gift
I ordered Skittles 5 days before Christmas, as a last minute gift. The Discovery [...] informed me on Dec. 20th my order, which they had confirmed weeks before, was out of stock. I'll never, ever order anything from them again. Well, after about an hour on my computer, Skittles was the only present I liked that could be delivered before Christmas. The gift was for my 6 year old grandson that I was traveling across the country to visit. I arrived the Sunday after Christmas and my grandchildren had already openned all their other presents. I wasn't sure this "old fasion" toy would be a hit or not. My expectations were exceeded. Skittles was in direct competion with Wii and came out even. Everyone from 6 to 60 loved it. Unlike Wii, the game is so unpredictable it makes for great competition between children and adults. My grandchildren loved beating grandpa. So did my daughter and son-in-law. We had trouble getting the kids to stop playing and come to the dinner table. You will be surprised how much fun this game is. I was a grumpy Grandpa when I thought I wouldn't have a present for one of my grandchildren. But thanks to Amazon.com and Skittles I'm a greatful Grandpa.

Fun nastolgia from my childhood years.
The kids and I love this game. My grandparents' had a similar Skittles game, slightly different layout, when I was a child. My sisters, cousins, and I always wanted to play it when it was put out. It's fun, seemed more magical when I was a child, but I continue to enjoy playing it. The board itself is decently made for the price point. Rainy day, party, family game night, etc., this game is a must have for your collection.

Great, old-fashioned game for the family.
When I was in my early years of high school my parents purchased this for our family (1964). I remember having so much fun with it and also remember my parents using it when they had couples over for their dinner club and having a wonderful time. I purchased two of these this Christmas, one for my family (we have 12 grandkids from 3mos.to 18 years) and I purchased one as a gift for my nephew and his family. It was used many times over the holidays in both cases and with my large family we divided up in teams of adults through the youngest players, which were 5 and 6 years old. It does not take skill but it does take a little getting use to as you find the best way to pull the string that is attached to the top, so you can successfully get it to spin and jump all the way to the back rooms and knock down the pins. On all levels of the ages there was success and it boils down to a knack on pulling the string. Really so much fun!

Classic Game, good quality
I bought this game because I remember playing it as a child and it did not disappoint. If you've never tried it, you will not believe how many hours of fun it can bring. As far as this set in particular goes, I gave it a 4 out of 5 for quality. In my mind it only lost a few point for the quality of the top (as in the thing that you spin)The set is made of real wood and is very well constructed. The top, itself needs a bit of work though. The dowel separated from the cylinder and had to be glued on for stabilization. We might make a new one on our own. This is really a minor complaint considering the low price and great quality of the rest of the set. Also, just a few tips:1) use your own cotton string, it grips the top better than the string provided2) The flat side of the top actually works better than the pointed side for this game. It is a bit counterintuative, but try it.

Skittles Game
Had this game back in the day. I came across it while cleaning out my parents’ house. It was in bad shape but I knew my grandkids would love it so I ordered a new game! It didn’t disappoint and my grandkids haven’t even played it yet!

Top is useless and a week later, seller hasn't responded.
This game is one of the most popular at Strawbery Banke Museum, a living history museum about colonial to 1950s New England. I bought it because I had played it often there. The board is fine and looks and functions the same as the one I am used to. But... the top is horrible and cheaply made.I wasn't going to post a review in the hopes the seller would rectify their issue, but no word yet. This was a Christmas present for my dad, and it didn't work because the top had a strangely tiny and off-center point. Luckily, my dad is a physics teacher (hence the present) and found the challenge of making functioning tops his holiday project. We now have several that are decent because of him. Not the company. I may change my rating if the company fixes their bad top.

Outstanding family fun
My godson is a charmer, but really hard to buy for. His mom wants to avoid plastic (and so do I), his dad wants something that's easily stored and retrieved in their small space, and my godson needs something that will keep his interest for more than just a few minutes or days. Dad was really unhappy with the size of the box until I explained you can easily slip this under the bed and pull it out whenever you want to play. The whole family has been enjoying learning and competing with this fun game. Now... If I can just figure out what to get for NEXT year!
