OK so I've not actually thrown any of mine away (I've had at least 3 or 4 of these since they first came out). Now I don't know about others, but I don't tend to just replace my pens if a new model comes along, I still have (and use) a Novopen 3 which must be at least 9 years old now - it hasn't broken yet! Quality and performance wise my favourite pen was the NovoPen 4, apart from the digital record, very similar to the 5 except for quality - the 5 is a much inferior and a weaker pen. While as a pen the 5 is fine - good even, it is quite fragile, breaks easily and the battery life is NOWHERE near the claimed five years, I think the best I've had out of all I've owned is about 2.5 years and one died shortly after a year and half. I still have that pen, but I've had it longer with the battery dead than alive! So the best thing about the NovaPen 5 (the memory and display) is just a temporary feature in it's actual lifespan. Running to the GP every couple of years to replace a perfectly functioning pen just because of a dead battery is wasteful and shows a poor attitude to sustainability by Novo Nordisk. I note that the NovoPen 6 has now been released with further features - but not the feature that would be most welcome - being able to replace or recharge the battery!

I needed this when my old pen stopped delivering insulin when injecting. I ordered this nova pen straight away for delivery within a few days. I think it arrived quicker than getting a prescription as i would have had to wait until after the weekend and more days to get another via the usual nhs route. Amazon is my fourth emergency service as my new pen arrived promptly and makes a change to using my basal silver colour pen. Love it and Thankyou seller.
