Yes, one deck of cards is sufficient for 2 to 4 players. I usually play with 6 + players so I purchased 2 decks.

See previous good answer. This is an old game but being played by lots of people still. It is a great game for those who, like me, think Bridge a bit too difficult and serious. I play canasta weekly with the same friends, and we have a great time talking and laughing. Who wins is not the point; having fun is.
