Question 1

How about the battery? I read some posts it can only shot with 1 hour, is that true?

Still in the process of testing out all the modes. At full 4k 30fps mode, it will lower the battery faster. But at 1080 30fps, I've passed 1 hour already. There is a warning in the instructions that the camera may too hot from shooting at such a high resolution (accessories may make it worse as well), and the camera will automatically shut off. But please, I'm haven't tested this to its full capacity yet.

Question 2

I plan to use this for a yoga/fitness studio. Is this overkill?

The black version is over kill for just about everything. Realistically 1080 resolution is fantastic quality. Very rare you can fully take advantage of the 4K resolution. Not to mention the argument that 1080 video is equally great seen on 4K television (automatically upscaled). Otherwise the only way you will see real 4K video is from original video file directly on a computer or directly connected to a 4K TV. 4K over the internet (Youtube) is not true 4K. The 4K setting will half your battery power, and result in huge video files (storage space?), and if you want to process (edit) 4K video, lol, you better have a real decent computer to process that file, not to mention the time to transfer/copy the file over (I'm not talking about a quick 5 min clip, thats easy).The Silver and all the models down to the basic HEROPLUS is 1080@60 frames. Check the comparison chart and see the features you need/like. The HeroPlus with LCD is more economical for $250. There is also the "Cube" or as GoPro calls it the "Session" (Poloroid was the first to create the idea) more features, cheaper, but no LCD. The Silver is really more than most people need. The main difference between the basic version is 8MP photo verses the newer 12MP.

So does the 4 black not have a built in LCD touch screen like the 4 silver?

It doesn't have the LCD built-in because of heat reasons. Keep that in mind if you plan to ADD the separate $79 LCD screen. If you shoot 1080p-120fps or 4k-30fps it WILL get hot. You may want to look into using the wi-fi and a remote display (like an Android running their app) instead of using an onboard LCD.

Question 4

When it offers the "camera only" versionl does it come with the waterproof housing? or is it literally just the camera?

Hero usually comes with "Standard Housing" which is "waterproof" up to " 131' (40m)". The Diving Housing" (sold seperatly, unless in dive package) is "waterproof" up to "197' (60m)"
