Laser Safety Glasses

Work but cheaply made

When I say "These appear to be exactly what they say they are" that might seem sort of obvious, but it is not. I've gotten lots of PPE from Amazon that is not what it claimed to be, including fake UV safety glasses that didn't block UV. However, a quick check of these on a simple window tint meter confirms that these block UV and IR, and block ~92% of visible light. The downside to these is that they block all light to one degree or another, so they may protect you during a treatment session where you don't have to do anything, but because they don't selectively block out just the specific wavelength of light you need protection from, they are very dark and you can't necesarily see what you are doing if you need to perform any tasks. One other issue is that in normal broad spectrum laser safety glasses the maker gives the Optical Density levels for various wavelengths of light because they vary. With these it's unclear if they are really OD 5 for all wave lengths because they don't give details.

I have a red therapy light and the goggles provided were ... insufficient. No protection on the sides. These are awesome. They have protection that wraps about to the side, going basically back to the ear. it really does help keep out the stray light that was coming in with the goggles that came with the light. I like these safety glasses quite a bit and also am using them for the hair-removal light treatments. It blocks quite a bit. AND, it comes with a hard shell storage case, so you don't have to worry about losing them or having them get damaged.

For me these didn't give any protection. They were huge and there were gaps. I could still see the laser. They might work for someone else, but for me they were a fail.

I have several issues with these glasses. They do not block light from below. So if I want to wear these with a red light mask, they are pretty useless and the light comes right in up to my eyes. They are also very dark, so I really cannot see much when I wear them. So unless I plan to nap when I need to use them, they are not of much use. Maybe instead of being a 'Jack of all trades', if these glasses had been provided for specific uses, e.g. against IR light or UV light, they would have been more useful.

I wanted a set of protective eyewear for using with my laser engraver, so I thought I would give these a try. These glasses are on the flimsy side. Fit and finish are adequate. The lenses are nice and dark. Integrated side shields. Comes with a nice semi-hard case and a cleaning cloth. Good for occasional use, but these glasses will likely not last very long. 3 stars.

Just got these in and have used them - they almost feel like welding goggles! They're super dark but...they're protecting your eyes. If you want good protection for the peeps...these will fit the bill. I use them with both a blue diode laser and fiber laser. Only reason not 5 stars is because the plastic of the body feels a little brittle...so, be aware. You're not going to be able to toss these around as they may break.

These seem to work well for blocking more light than the standard cheap laser glasses. They have a nice case and feel sturdy. Happy with these.
