Works perfectly
Sturdy and very well built. Used it to hold a 6”x7”x62” solid birch beam. No flex or sag. Came with drill guide to keep hole straight. One run and all went together perfectly. It will be tight when placing beam onto mount but with a tap of a mallet it went right on. Would recommend.

Built beyond Expectations
Measure 5 times😂😂instead of twice and be mindful of centers and this product will prove to be what it was intended for and will make your project look awesome! The bracket itself has full concentric welds on the back and has precise measurements. A 1/4” router on the back of your mantel should be more than enough for a tight fit! Awesome product and will definitely buy again!

Great for a floating mantle
We purchased a solid wood mantle and needed a solution to hang the heavy walnut mantle without having visible brackets or corbels. We purchased this and had no issues securing our mantle to the fireplace. It was fairly simple to screw onto the framing of the fireplace and holds the mantle securely. Highly recommend to achieve a floating mantle look for solid wood pieces.

Much better than bolts in the wall
I have mounted a live edge hickory mantle at our last house using the 10” bolts screwed into studs, cut off hex heads, drill mantle according to spacing, take many mounting attempts to finally get close, drill out bigger holes, try again and pound on with mallet. Exhausting by yourself, barely less exhausting with a helper. This house now has an 11” x 6’ white oak mantle and this mount system helps soooo much more! Having the mount with drill guide keeps everything in one place until you are ready to put mantle to wall. Two issues I had was that I didn’t buy their recommended drill bit. I went with a Crescent brand version. Not sure if the tip design is different that the recommended one but it barely fit in the provided drill guide. I ended shaving quite a bit of metal on my last drill hole I believe to to heating and expansion of the bit and guide. Sat everything down for a few minutes and it all cooled and worked as the first hole. The other issue was when I mounted the bracket to the wall, it might have slightly cocked some of the pegs. Not an issue with design, more my studs and drywall flatness. Just took a bit of wallering the hole to get the mantle to sit perfect. Thank you for making this product!!

Insanely strong
I used this on a reclaimed white oak beam that was 5' long and VERY heavy. This had no problems holding it up. Drilling the hole was a challenge but doable. I had to widen them a bit. I also routed out the back so the bracket would sit flush which worked great. The bracket is thick and strong. Have n fears about its strength. I ordered the rods a bit too long but I was able to cut them shorter with an angle grinder. I opted to not use an epoxy inside the beam to hold it in place. It fits very snug as-is and I wanted the ability to pull it down if needed. With epoxy the beam would need to be cut out. Take your time measuring and drilling it will go alright. Using a softer wood like pine would make it so much easier.

Impressive strength for a complicated project
The Kid is getting a room upgrade. With the market the way it is, I don’t think we are moving anytime soon. So to make floor space and provide him a bed long enough to accommodate his growing 6 foot plus length, we need to use all the walls and floor space as effectively as possible. The plan is remove the full bed, replace with a horizontal twin XL Murphy bed, and wall mount his long IKEA dresser (90 lbs shipped weight) above the Murphy bed. Enter the wall brackets! Reading the earlier reviews, I was skeptical. It does appear feedback was applied. The welds are solid. There is some back-cut so it fits flush. The mounting plate is nice and thick. The flush side is clean so you can press your workpiece to the back and have it flush. For mounting strength, mine will be behind the drywall, and would have rather seen an extra bead on the front of the plate as well. Probably would have been overkill. It comes with a guide and recommended arbor bit size. These are pricey, but I couldn’t find anything that looked robust and offer the level of support and safety I wanted. If I were a welder, this would be the design I would use. This product does not come with screws. That’s on you. Don’t be dumb and use drywall screws. I used construction screws with a 700+ pound shear rating. I’m sure lag screws would be a good option too. Live edge black walnut and reclaimed rail car flooring was the original plan, but holy cow! The prices! I needed a minimum 20” width. 9” support lugs didn’t leave me warm and fuzzy inside, so I added 2 feet of 5/8” threaded rod threaded into the lugs as extensions. Then I added 2 of the widest pieces of lumber available at the local big box. Some of my issues with this project are not the products fault, some, the product didn’t help. For example, my walls are not exactly straight and flat being a 1940’s home. Very solid at least. I added cross braces. While I was able to secure these to the wall, the plate warped to the wall shape. This threw off the lugs intended alignment. This led to the overall 24” run-out” was not “perfect”. Some widening of the holes in the 2nd board was necessary as well as prolong pounding. Sharp tube ends instead of blunt ends would have helped. With a step drill bit I was at least able to get an internal bevel instead of a blunt ends, but an exterior chamfer would have been preferred. It got there in the end. As a test, just with the 6 lugs in place, I was able to sit on the bench with my 300+ pounds with minimum deflection. From there, I added a leading edge c-channel steel strut material and end supports. Bench tested with +500 pounds. I will update and add a final picture when everything is finalized. 5 star product if the price was more affordable.

The only floating bracket I will buy in the future.
I don't normally write reviews, but felt I had to on this one. Shepard brackets is one of the best companies I've dealt with on Amazon. Not only did they have the only bracket that would fit my mantel, but they solved a problem of my own making at cost to themselves extremely quickly and politely. The quality of this bracket is amazing. The pipes were a perfect 12 inches apart and absolutely beautiful welds. If I would've followed their instructions closer, this mantle would've slid on like butter. My last hole had to be rounded out to a 7/8 hole to accommodate for my poor measurement job. People get loyalty to products and brands, like Apple, Samsung, LG, etc. My newest brand I'm loyal to is Shepard brackets. Thank you guys again, I will be repeating business with you
