Such an amazing second book into Emma’s deep waters series 🤗Anya and daios love story was filled with angst, pain & deep deep love 😭 Emma wrote such an amazing representation of their disabilities and how they effected them and their relationship, daios learning to sign I love you😭😭I loved daios & his grumpy demeanour! How he felt he wasn’t good enough for love and had done too much bad in his life broke my heart each time it was brought up and his inner monologue when feeling like that😭 he just needed a home ☹️ his what I would call ptsd was really painful to read and I just wanted him to have his happy ever after!Anya was a brilliant fmc and the perfect match for daios, she was massively underestimated and treated like she was stupid because of her impaired hearing and made everyone sorry which I loved. Her softness for daios and how she never treated him differently was heart warming and I could 100% read more books about them and their life together!!!Mira and Arges actually annoyed me a bit in this book, I understand why they were a bit stand offish with daios in the start but I felt they didn’t let up on him and made him feel worse. Although, when arges and daios had their little scrap and hug it defo made me feel better and feel like he needed that because of how he lets out his emotions.Maketes is the cutest boy ever and I cannot WAIT for his book with who I think is gonna be his love interest 👀👀Also I need more of the depths striders?!?! enjoyable
I really enjoyed the main story of this and the dynamic between the two love interests. The only reason I gave it a 3 and not a 4 is because I couldn’t stand the Mira character. This is the first book in the series I’ve read and I know a he’s is book 1. I felt she constantly belittled the main female lead, talking down to her and she even laughed at her twice. Not to mention the fact that at one point she took the main leads hearing aid equivalent for most of a day and didn’t even care that she’d done that. Mira came across as selfish and the type of person that doesn’t think others have it hard because she had it harder nonsense. Weirdly this made her more believable as a person, just not a likeable one. Definitely won’t be reading her book.Overall, I did enjoy this though and will read the rest of the series.

Just… Daios.
Wow Daios was just the most soul-wrenching individual. His journey gives you all the feels. I started listening to Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls and it basically gave me major Daios vibes. I just love him. And with Anya, two people broken and put back together… I can’t even. Thanks for this one Emma Hamm, you brought the struggle to life in spades here.

Amazing sequel, somehow even better then the first
Gosh where to start with this book. It was very hard to top the masterpiece of the first (Whispers of the Deep) but somehow, she did it. This book is so beautiful, you come for the merman and stay for the wonderful romance, in depth world building, intriguing plot, wonderful character development. This books picks up right after the events of the first book. Daios is now somewhat of an outcast after what happened during the first book and his actions weigh heavily on him. He's told to kidnap the Generals daughter, Anya, to bargain with so they can take down Alpha. Except....oh no he falls in love! And Anya is way more then he expects. The characters were amazing. Daios' inner turmoil was done beautiful and his desire to just be loved was heartbreaking. I loved Anya, she was someone on the edge of breaking down but trying her best to what she thinks is right. She is also has hearing loss! As a deaf person, anyone reading this review, Anya gets my approval as a deaf person. It's obvious the author has sensitivity readers here and a good thought process with making Anya as realistic as possible. There's tons of little details that made me go "omg I've done that! That's happened to me!" Anya feels like a character with hearing loss and it shows on page. It also ties in wonderfully with her development through the book. We also get little bits of Arges and Mira from the first book and I loved their little scenes with the Daios and Anya. And gosh the smut! The MC's were thirstier then the first book and I'm here for it. 5/5 for the build, 4/5 for spiceDo yourself a favor and read this

I'm hooked
⚠️May contain spoilers⚠️Anya is a fearless "princess" as the daughter of the general of Alpha. She's kidnapped by Daios to bargain with her father. When it turns out she was planing to overtake him as well with a friend from Gamma everything changes.Daios is a big, grumpy warrior with low self esteem and trauma."Daios was not trying to impress her, and he did not want a mate. Or pherhaps, something deep inside him whispered, he did not think a mate would want him."He was a reckless warrior in the first book who hated humans but that changed drastically when he saw Anya. He fell so hard for her then."He wasn't so much a monster that she would fear him as they fled. Was he? Was the sight of him the problem?"As the story continues we learn they both have to deal with traumatic pasts. And they were healing together once they trusted each other. She was an outsider in her own world like he is."She seemed to like it when he was himself, even if that self was a gruff bastard with an angry streak""I want to find someone who doesn't fear me. I want to know that when I come home, there is a soft place to rest my head, and someone who cares if I had a hard day, or if I am upset. I want someone to take care of, and who takes care of me in return. That's what I dream of, Kalon." 💔The way they describe their feelings for eacg other is so cute. Their love is just too heartwarming. I love it when strong, bitter, grumpy warriors show their soft side only to the woman they develop feelings for."That is what you have given me, kalon. Wherever you are, I am home."The continued plot from the first book really picks up, and I went through all the emotions when Anya infiltrates Alpha to rescue and destroy it from the inside. The general of Alpha made me so mad. His actions made him the real monster!I'm so looking forward what comes next. When I first read that Ace is a female, I knew I needed Maketees story ASAP Gods this will be so cute, I feel it.
