Cheap, robust and does the job.
I got this really cheap . Don't know why there are negative comments. Tightened all the allen screws and the thing stayed put on my makita grinder. I routed out an entire chimney breast with no probs in about an hour and a half. The supplied 10mm bits even went through Victorian clay brick where pointing gaps were uneven and down to about 5mm. The vacuum fitment if pointed downwards will block, so works best if kept horizontal. Sucked up 95% of the dust.

It's OK for the price, approx 60% of dust was collected by mine.
Pointing on a chimney was softening, crumbling, absorbing water, and needed replacing. An SDS drill mortar rake removed it, but chimney corners are close together, it was at risk or knocking the bricks out! This tool appeared to be the perfect solution for reducing environmental dust and big cleanups (on a roof), the 10mm rotating carbide cutter removed the softened mortar with very little effort and with less risk of dislodging bricks with the SDS tool, but these cutters make a huge amount of dust!8mm 0r 10mm set? = Money or timeI think the only difference is the supplied cutter size? The 10mm cutter removed much of the mortar from gaps of approx 12mm to a good depth, with the need for a few additional passes, or a couple of taps with a bolster. Some of the gaps were too small for the 10mm cutter, I had anticipated this and purchased a pair of 8mm cutters. I could have used chisels to clear the few narrow joints or purchased the 8mm set and spent more time routing.Extractor coupling- 32mm external diameter.None of my several vacuum pipe adapters allowed connection between the Irwin outlet and hose without awkward stacking. I spent a while finding a method to attach the extractor pipe component to my shop vac hose. A short length of 32mm internal bore PVC waste pipe pushed snugly over the tool outlet pipe, extractor hose of 32 mm external diameter fitted snugly inside the waste pipe and a little duct tape kept it in place.Fitting & Alignment. This Irwin tool fitted easily onto my grinder, with a little excess clearance for which the smallest spacer was too large. The fit was a little flexible, so care was needed to centre the cutter within the tool before fully tightening the lock screw. If not centred, I found that the the guide notches weren't well aligned with the resulting cuts. The guide notches on the plate of the tool are helpful, but in use on a chimney with awkward access, it was difficult to see the notches on both sides at the same time, resulting in slight wandering. The bricks were very hard and withstood the occasional cutter nibble.Performance.With use of a powerful shop vac, I was hoping for almost no mess, approximately 40% of debris and dust still got past & a dust mask had to be used. The tool is compact but makes an angle grinder a little clumsy and awkward to manipulate, but it is not priced as if high tolerance engineering, perfection wasn't expected, but it was still a little disappointing. The dust collecting collar and outlet rotate freely about the main body, allowing changes of cutter orientation whilst keeping the vac hose below the cutter for gravity to help clear the debris. Machined into the static part of main body within the collar are 4 ports allowing dust through to the outlet, in relative positions to the base plate guides other than 12, 3, 6 and 9 o'clock, the outlet becomes partially occluded by the remaining webs of body between these holes, intermittent blockages were experienced. Dust collection was better when the pipe was fixed or held at one of the relative positions mentioned, but a lot of dust still passed by. Ensure your angle grinder has very good dust protection and well sealed bearings. Mine didn't! Time for a new one. but I can't blame the Irwin tool.Without a 2nd person to hold a vac pipe, this appears to be the best option for reducing the mess made during this task. I'll try to finish the job with a new grinder.

Good for weak mortar
Within its limitations it's a good tool. The mortar used in my wall was very soft and it went through it like a knife through butter however when I came to the odd small section that had previously been repointed with a strong mortar mix it struggled and I ended up grinding out those sections. The dust collection is quite good, the better the hoover the less dust but anyway far less than a grinder. Before purchasing this I would examine the mortar you intend to remove.

Good piece of kit and easy to use.
Excellent, easy to use and setup. Used with Makita angle grinder and adaptor fit without any problems. Results were good, but word of caution as posted by a previous reviewer, the rake could quite easily take out brickwork as easily as it does mortar.

If I can get replacement bits and different sizes the whole item will be perfect👍
Easy to use and the dust just lays as you cut/grind marvellous

Easy pointing removal
Clips into your angle grinder and is brilliant for taking out pointing. I have lots of old lime render to repoint and this removes the old stuff perfecty

Great concept but doesn’t fit angle grinder without force
Firstly the Mortar rake /dust extractor is polished metal, smooth finished. This comes with four resized rings for attaching smaller grinders and two pointer bits. Only problem for me, it doesn’t fit my Bosch 11-125 Angle Grinder. The instructions are very generic, but the problem is the widest extension piece is still not wide enough to attach to the angle grinder. The only way to fit is to force the extension enough to widen the diameter thus clamping onto the grinder. However the screw to tighten then doesn’t clamp down as holes don’t align.Pretty poor considering the Angle grinder is a popular make and this is positioned as a ‘ universal tool’.

Super sauberes Arbeiten
The media could not be loaded.

Worked well for the job I got it for.
I've only used it for one tuckpointing job so far, but it worked fine.

Leave it in Europe
Hi Guys; This product is not worth a damn. 1. The adapter to the civilized world, lol is not available ,had a machine shop make . 5/8 inch male to 14mm female. 2.The fitment adapters Nfg also. Attached to a Dewalt grinder, lasted 30 seconds ,came apart, was checking if I lost any parts as well. Defnitely a theory, not reality.

Needs additional parts to use with American angle grinders but still worthwhile
I appreciated the previous reviewer who gave valuable information about the need for an adaptor to fit the mortar bit onto standard American angle grinders, because yes, this item is made to fit European (metric) sized devices and and without a 5/8" to M14 bit adaptor you won't be able to fit the bit to your American grinder. I was able to fit the dust collection attachment to my cordless Makita angle grinder without any issues, however. The downside of needing an additional adaptor piece is that the raking bit sticks out further from the end plate on the dust collection plate than it is meant to-- you can't sink the bit into the joints all the way to the plate, so it requires more attention to control the depth of the rake and more dust escapes from the collector, but overall I have found it infinitely faster than chiseling out old mortar by hand and easier to use than a standard angle grinder blade so it's still a worthwhile investment, especially with the benefit of the dust collector even if it isn't perfect.
