Amazing.
Worth the purchase! My phone has so much free space now that I can play all my android and emulator games on this and keep my phone free for all the dog pictures I take :)Does take a little bit of know how on setting it up, but it's not a difficult process once you figure it out. Just a lot of drag and drop or downloading from the app store. The overall feel of the console feels very much like a PSP. Would recommend buying a grip case. Makes it so much better. The buttons feel really nice. Good click to them. Overall the buttons and joysticks are pretty akin to the Nintendo switch. In fact, Nintendo Switch joystick grips work on this. Button grips too.On the software side, it's running a fork of Android, so you have access to a lot of Android features including the app store. Tons of apps work with it. Call of Duty, Hades, Stardew Valley, GamePass, SteamLink, plus the emulators. (Also streaming apps if you wanna watch something.) This also gives you a ton of options on how you want your device to look using Launchers. Anywhere from Nintendo Wii, Switch, Playstation to Newly made User interfaces that are really good. This also runs super well. It actually feels on par with my S24 Ultra. It can play up to some switch games, so it's a really tough little device with a good battery life. Honestly, as far as cheap handhelds with the most capability before you start incorporating Desktop Operating Systems, this is the best one on the market imo.

I couldn't love this more if I tried
First thing to note is that this does come with some emulators and a front-end installed, but you will need to source your own games. This is not a hard thing to do for people with some tech skills and an internet connected computer, but this is not something you hand out of the box to an ipad kid and expect them to be playing retro games. There's some tinkering involved with settings, but by and large it's nothing you'd need an IT degree for. Once you have the games loaded and the emulators configured, it's super easy to use, just be aware that there's going to be a few hours of setup, downloading roms, transferring, and tinkering.Once it's set up, this Android device has a LOT of power underneath the hood. I've been enjoying up through Wii and PS2 games on it, though the PS2 eats battery and gets the device warm. Note to anyone installing a screen protector, make sure you turn the fan up all the way when you emulate stronger systems. The CPU/GPU warming up cooked some of the adhesive on the very left edge of my screen protector, causing an air bubble to form. The actual device is fine, but if you have the fan set to quiet and push the retroid to its limits, it will generate a fair bit of heat. The good news is this device emulates everything without lag. Some ps2 games chunk a little from time to time, but most are extremely playable if not 100%. The screen is gorgeous and will have your retro games looking awesome, whether you're the type to enable shaders or pixel peep old games, and your upscaled 3d games will look nice and crisp as well. Game title obscured to circumvent any concerns, but you can play the second Deity of Conflict on this easily, as a point of reference.I highly recommend getting the comfort grip for this. It's a little boxy and tiny in my adult hands without. Totally usable without, but I can game for hours and hours with the grip.Oh and battery life! It's going to heavily depend on what you're doing. Emulating an 8 bit or 16 bit game? Battery is an absolute champion and will not budge. Doing some ps2/wii games? That battery indicator is gonna move at a steady pace. It's a fine battery life on the more intense games, but I probably would skew to older games if I was on a long plane ride.Notably because this is android based, it supports full fast charge, so if you have a good modern USB C quick charging adapter, this thing will top up in no time.

Amazing handheld device
Some other reviews have stated that it's a little difficult to get this device setup. That is not incorrect, but there are quite a few videos on YouTube that'll teach you how. There are several Android games that you can play right out of the box just fine, and streaming services like Xbox let you play games really easily, but if you want to get into the emulator side of it, You will have to do a little research and some work, but this device is very powerful and can handle much more than you would think. For the price it's an incredible value, I find myself playing it everyday. The battery life is decent depending on what you do, it's small enough to fit in your pocket and take with you when you're on the go. I also really like the color

Runs everything up to most gamecube and ps2 flawlessly
Even runs some switch. Really loving the ability to stream my Xbox games via xbplay also! Not the best for fast action first person shooters, but handles everything else with ease and comfort.Pro tip, order the handles attachment right away, I can't imagine not having it after using it.I couldn't be happier overall though, and no I'm not being paid for this review 🙃 😆

Fun, with some flaws.
I'm familiar with handhelds like these, they're finicky to set up, but worth it if you like the games they let you play. Buy a cheaper handheld first, if you like that; this is an amazing option. A tech savvy teenager could use this, but not something to get a 9 year old without experience setting one of these up.

My 12 year old loves it
Ordered this as a gift for my 12 year old son, he asked for it specifically. I don't know much about it other than he loved it. He plays it all the time, particularly on road trips. Battery life is good and he has been able to add and play all types of retro games.

$200 for a handheld gaming device with no games!😤
Came across this device cus I was looking for a handheld device that played old classic games from ps1/2 & expect the Retroid pocket 4 pro to already have games installed when I purchased it. I received the item, powered it up & there’s no games. I have to go download them off of a computer & transfer them to a SD card to play games. This is a total inconvenience.l, especially for $200 you’d expect there to be some direction on how to get the retro games & there wasn’t even that. I work too much & don’t have the time to sit in front of a computer to do all of this. Definitely not happy with the purchase especially over $200 with no games even tho the device is called “Retroid”
