Smelled like gasoline
So far the knives look fine. I've done some spoon carving with borrowed tools and they look equivalent. But the case STINKS like gasoline. I don't know if it is some chemical used to treat the tools or if it's the excessive amount of plastic wrap they used on all pieces, but it smells like the whole thing was doused in gasoline. I'm hoping I can air it out outside, but I'm not confident this smell will ever go away.

Fun Couples Craft Night Idea
Great little kit! It's really nice that they included the grip tape, but I wish that they had also included some basswood for carving. The handles are smooth and have a good handfeel. The blades are very sharp and make carving a breeze. You also get an email with a link to hundreds of carving patterns to try after purchase. Fantastic value.

Good luck getting the smell out
The entire kit smells like fuel because of the polishing compound. Tool quality seems fine, ready to use, and durable.

Tools would be better if..
I even knew what I was doing. Although a few of them aren’t sharp all the way through I’m equating this to being a skill problem. This is the first time I’ve ever done something like this. Seems easy enough as a noob not really entirely sure how to go about this but noticed they had a link to some of their tutorials so I’ll check those out. Enjoying this so far even though I don’t know what to make. I recommend spending the $20 to get some extra wood because if you’re a noob like me you WILL mess up.Hopefully I can improve…

Nice set of tools to start with
I received a set of BeaverCraft carving knives for my birthday last week. I hope to learn to carve spoons. To be honest, I had selected individual knives of a different brand and put them on my amazon wish list. But my husband, as husbands sometimes do, just ordered the first set that popped up on amazon instead of looking at my wish list. When I first opened the box, I was a bit disappointed because these were not the knives I had asked for. But after inspecting them, I decided that they are a really nice set of knives. They are very sharp straight out of the box. No need to sharpen before starting. The handles feel smooth and sturdy and fit nicely in my hand. The canvas roll is a nice touch. I’m certain that the knives will stay sharp and unblemished longer protected in this roll. The set also comes with polishing compound and a leather strop. I have no idea how to use these items but I’ll google and figure it out. It would be nice if the set came with simple instructions for sharpening but I’m sure I’ll find a youtube video to teach me.The only slightly negative thing I have to say so far is that the hook knife in the set I received was bigger than I hoped. It looks a little wide for small spoons and i have plans to make small spoons for salt bowls. But it looks like it will work nicely for larger spoons, small bowls, and kuksas so I’m sure I’ll make use of it.As soon as my axe arrives so I can make some blanks from the logs I have stacked on my porch, I’ll try out the set and leave a review of how they actually work! I can’t Wait to try them!

For the Bushcraft Hobbyist
Just like many people this year, we’ve gotten into a lot of hobbies. One of them is wood carving! This kit comes in a great little roll-up pouch with all the items you need to start carving spoons, mugs, or bowls. These high-quality blades are made by Beavercraft in Ukraine and come highly recommended by seasoned woodcarvers. If you’re just getting into Bushcrafting, you’ll need to carve your own Kuksa. Or you can get yourself a Hobby Pipe block and carve your own freehand tobacco pipe. Both the tools and items you create with them will serve you for years to come.
