Heavy duty rope and hook
Once or twice a year I have to go up on the roof of my house to clean the vent where our dryer exhausts (and clogs). When I was younger the prospect of falling from the roof was not even a concern. I assumed that I would be fine and or would recover quick enough that I just didn’t even think about it. However, as I am getting older I worry that the injuries I might suffer would have more significant long range consequences and so I’m reluctant to get on the roof. I don’t want to hobble around with bad hips or bad knees for the rest of my life just because I foolishly failed to take necessary precautions.I ordered this rope to protect me from falling from the roof. I tied the non-hook end to the bucket of my tractor leaving enough slack in the rope that it would go over the top of the roof and down about halfway on the other side. I climbed onto the roof and fastened the hook to a makeshift harness. I was able to securely maneuver to the vent and plunge it like a chimney sweep without fear of falling. I didn’t test the set up, but have no doubt that this rope and hook would have easily stopped my fall had I slipped. The rope is thick nylon (maybe 1” thick) and the hook is securely attached to the rope. The hook feels very strong and I have no doubt that my 300 pounds would not overtax the hook or rope. 50’ provided plenty of excess rope for me to do what I needed. This is truly a lifesaver for a very reasonable price.

Very good rope, this is my second one.
I am not an expert on fall protection, it is kind of new to me, but I can say it is a quality piece of rope. I have a 25 and a 50footer. At 60 years old I find myself on a roof more lately so decided it was time to get "rigged" . The snap also seems to be a good quality.

Fall Protection Rope
The Malta Dynamics Vertical Lifeline Assembly is a 5/8-inch thick 25 ft rope with a heavy-duty top hook attached to a sturdy reinforced eyelet, to use as the basis of a fall arrest system. So it’s not really meant to be used, but if you do fall this will stop you. The instructions show additional parts you can buy to go with this system such as a rope grab, personal harness, and other safety items. It’s similar to rock climbing equipment but not quite the same. The instructions mention a “rope grab” but the rope that I received doesn’t have one. It would be hard to use without a rope grab, though, since then you will have to rely only on your own hand strength. It’s not easy to climb down a rope. If you practice with it, you will probably be okay. But you should preferably have a harness and fall arrester. That being said, we got this to use as an escape rope from a second story window. Hook it to a bed rail, throw it out the window, and climb down. It’s better than nothing if you don’t have room for a bulky safety ladder. There is a figure 8 knot on the bottom, so if you’re sliding down it you won’t slide off the end.

Heavy Duty Life line
This Malta Dynamics Vertical Lifeline Rope with the a super heavy duty snap hook is more than a vertical lifeline. It's thickness, length and durable quality can also be a real lifeline in any critical or useful situation. Should one need to pull someone from a lake or other deep body of water or hole, clasping this snap hook around itself once circled around a heavy stable/fixed object would suffice in most instances. OR, the line, thrown to them can assist them in pulling themselves in, or throw them the clasp and with the rope secured around a tree to give the tugger leverage can reel them in once they clasp the line to the rescuee's beltloop, around their waist, or....you get the idea. To utilize the snap hook on something overhead you can grasp the rope either to act as a support means to avoid falling or lowering oneself is equally reassuring this safety rope will meet all expections. It's really thick, heavy duty, very well constructed and there is certainly no lack in quality of the snap hook. Who ever said they'd never need a lifeline? You just never know.....GET ONE!!!

Fantastic
I've always been a sucker for a good rope. As a young man I had all sorts of antique finely made ropes that you just cannot find today. I had wooden pulley blocks and such. I really really did not need this at all but I am a sucker for a good rope and what drew me to this listing was the very nice latch clip on the end which was pictured.Being advertised as a climbing rope with strength certifications which wasn't a concern for me makes this perfect for climbers. I mainly got it to hang in a tree in my yard for the kids to play with but in the event I need to attach to something to pull I know this will do it and hold up. This clip latch is really the show piece of the rope though. It's a two step method to open. Naturally in the locked position due to spring tension, you must push in on the back bottom side of the opening before you can push the clip in at the top right side (pictured and labeled) in order to open it. This is great because it cannot accidentally be opened. There is also a nice metal curbed rope eyelet to keep the weight evenly distributed thereby increasing strength and reducing weak points in the rope from bending or binding against contacts points with a smal surface area. This is really a fantastic rope!

an ounce of prevention
Paired this rope up with the Malta Dynamics Warthog Comfort Max Steel safety harness for use when working off of my 6/12 roof or when renting a manlift for tree work. We have five large oak trees on our little half acre and keeping them trimmed has become a necessity every year. I'm now in my late 40's and not nearly as spry or flexible as I use to be. A tumble off the roof or out of a man lift at this point in my life just wouldn't be the same as when I was younger and made of rubber. I also keep both this lead and my new harness in my truck when at work in the refinery knowing both meet ANSI and OSHA standards.
