XYZprinting Tough PLA Refill Filament - Black (NFC Style for da Vinci Nano, da Vinci Mini, da Vinci Jr, da Vinci Super Series)

This was my first reel of Tough PLA. I was getting it because I'm 3D-printing COVID masks. I had been using standard PLA, but some of the properties of PLA became problematic. There are some fittings to hold straps. Over time they would deform. Certain hooks on the mask would break off after about a week.I thought about trying annealing, but that causes some deformity, and I needed the dimensions to stay accurate so parts would fit.I've printed a couple of masks. I'm trying to get the strap material so I can start using them. However, it sure looks these will stand up much better than the basic PLA.One thing I didn't expect: it seems to print MUCH cleaner than standard PLA. I'm using a Da Vince Jr. 1.0 - I'm impressed with the quality of prints with this material.I just got the open tag for the printer, so I can then try other filaments, and adjust the profiles to see if I can get better prints with PLA, but there's a clear difference. I recommend it!

Performs well and easy to use.I just have to say I really hate the fact that many XYZ brand printers force you to pay a premium for filament via a NFC chip in the filament spool but it’s only about 25% more dependent on what brand you compare (I used $20/1kg for my preferred PLA brand for a different printer). What you get for the extra expense is a no-fuss printing experience which is super important for the elementary school environment this particular printer is is in.

Be sure to update your printer’s firmware before trying to use this

My spool came with a sticker (black), but no chip. The Davinci Jr. 1.0 printer at first wouldn't install the reel. I just had to update the firmware and it worked fine.
