Kettles don't seem to last long in our house, but this one didn't even make it to 12 months. I wouldn't recommend, it was slow to boil and noisy.

10 months of use later, still a great kettle. Originally bought for the fully stainless steel interior (lid included). Not the fastest kettle in the world, but does the job well. Exterior does not get very hot, and the lid mechanism works fine. Looks beautiful in red! Only nitpick is that the base is not very grippy, and can slide.
