English for Everyone English Vocabulary Builder

A family member has recently had a stroke, and during one medical assessment it was noted that the stroke had caused a problem with speech, vocabulary, and short term memory issues. I searched around for a book that covers every day words and more, with easy exercises. This book fitted the bill perfectly, together with some sound bites for some exercises. I would like additional sound bites. We have started going through the book and at this stage of the process, we may have to repeat some lessons to build up on areas that were lost as a result of the stroke. I usually do this on a one to one basis, it is not something she can do by herself.

Great, we are looking after a young girl who does not understand any English, so this was a godsend to help her get started with visuals and written studies Her English picked up really quick, and she enjoys studying with the book as well, an added bonus was there are audio components to compliment the book

The main thing I liked was that it's one of the few picture dictionaries which is in English as well as American. As I'm teaching refugees and others without mother tongue English as a volunteer, it's really important to me to have the right spellings, as I don't want to confuse them or have them learning the wrong spellings. If only it were cheaper I'd buy one for each of them! But most of them do not have internet access so I can't get them on-line picture dictionaries - we'll all just have to share mine. I also like the fact that it is nicely laid out. There is an index in the back, and it covers every day subjects that they will need to get by in the UK. Some of the other visual dictionaries look lovely, but cover esoteric science subjects that are the least of their worries if they've come from a traumatic situation. Others are for children, and are useful, but this has much more in it. I really recommend it. (It would also work well for children.)

As a teacher of English I have been using this pictorial word book 📕 for years and found it to be extremely effective with students regardless of their level as it is packed with manifold topics ranging from geography to health. So there is something for everyone ! I highly recommend it .

A gift! The book appears to have lots of detail and information (including slang words, including idioms). Good purchase - very pleased, hopefully will be received well by recipient. Update - Received very well indeed by recipient and is very happy! :-)

It is a good enough book,but it is not for beginners. I tried to use it for my beginner's class,but it is the way too difficult. More like elementary.

Brilliant Pictorial Vocabulary Book - pleasing on the eye. Really glad I discovered this whole series when returning to TESOL teaching one-to-one. Using this with a learner one-to-one alongside other material in the series such as the Grammar Guide and the Business Course and Practice Books. Love the pictorial approach even though I am not a visual learner myself.

This book is amazing to be used by adults or children. No matter what your English level is, you will enjoy reading this book and learn from it. It is really easy to read and make you read more and more. You can hear the word by using their apps. You really don't need an instructor to use this book. Good examples and illustrations. Just perfect!

Très visuel, pertinent et actuel.

One needs to learn vocabulary first to create language. The themes with pictures and words are very useful. I recommend for ESL.

We are using this as a supplemental text for some esl classes and it has been excellent. We have the students using level 1 books from the same company as their course / homework books but this text provides a lot of supplemental material. The only con is that some of the audio is cut off strangely causing the beginning of what the person is saying to be unclear
