Prayer: The Ultimate Conversation

Dr. Stanley never fails in communicating his love for God. He is such an incredibly humble, wise, and loving man. As they noted, King David was a man after God's own heart; so was Dr. Stanley! He's as authentic as it gets, because he walks the walk, and delights in teaching others how to do so, as well. As usual, this is just beautifully written. He's easy to understand, but totally not boring! He's concerned with helping everyone who reads his books, and has gladly accepted it as his duty to do so. It's more than a duty for him, it's his passion. If you wish to pray to the Lord's delight, read this book - I just can't recommend it enough.

Mr. Stanley writes about the benefits of prayer. I find the book to have real depth and meaning. It is a very gentle guide to what prayer is and the many ways to accomplish prayer. We read about the benefit of prayer to the pray-er, too. It's a very good guide, a helpful aide. The book is easy to read, yet I get drawn deeply into it every time I pick it up. The author talks too, about impediments to prayer and closeness to the Father. He takes a very helpful look at the attitudes we bring to prayer, what affects them, and how to change them. I recommend this book highly for any denomination of Christian.

Great book.

The use of very familiar scriptures. The good news (gospel) isn't always heart warming. These chosen scriptures lead to a warm loving feeling that makes it easy to accept for everyone. The presentation was very organized. This gives me the confidence to try and do just what is instructed even if prayer can be overwhelming for me at times. I don't really believe this a negative, but I could only read it in small sections... smaller than the chapters. It demanded my complete attention. At times I needed to stop and sort out my thoughts and emotions before going further.

I do love Charles Stanley, a wonderful man of God. All of his books are a great blessing and will help you grow in faith through his excellent Bible teaching. This book, which I am still reading, conveys the importance of prayer. Talking to our Heavenly Father is key in getting to know Him, but it is often neglected. One must MAKE TIME for God every day. Prayer should not be used only for asking God for things, Simply spending time with Him, including listening quietly (waiting to hear His voice), shows God we love Him.and want to get closer to Him. The more time we spend in prayer, the better our relationship with God will become. The other side of the coin is reading God's word every day, both the Old and New Testament. I do recommend this books very much as a part of your Christian library. Be sure and loan it to a friend!

I have been a Christian for 71 years and prayed about a lot of things during that time. I am better at talking with God after reading Prayer: The Ultimate Conversation. My intention was to get a fresh look at prayer so I selected Spurgeon’s The Power of Prayer and Stanley's Ultimate Conversation. I read Spurgeon first and highly recommend the book. His information concerning prayer will inspire any prayer warrior. Dr Stanley takes you into his personal prayer life and leads you into a Bible based prayer time that is truly the ultimate conversation with God. The prayers at the end of each chapter is worth the price of the book.

There are some real gold nuggets in this book. We used this for weekly small group meetings and each week was a great learning experience, although soMe chapters were better than others. Our group was lively in discussion on prayer generating a keener understanding of the how and why to pray. I grew in my understanding of daily thanksgiving to God. I've always been thankful for every day but I've come to a greater awe of the wonder of life. The down side was minimal but there were a few chapters that did not fully resonate with me. Dr. Stanley using his own experience was sometimes slow and I wish he would have used more current events to pull out God's work. However, he used specific bible phases and events which was great for depth in study and for reference in the future. Overall I give this a strong 4 stars!

Very inspiring and encouraging. A guide to seeking God prayerfully, listen and trust and obey God. At the end of each chapter, there is a prayer which gives me the feeling that this prayer was said for me or helping me to express how I would want to pray. God's presence was felt in every reading session. I will do some reading before I go to bed to experience the assurance of God being in control and because of His love, He always gives the best to His children!

I believe the Lord helped me to come across this great preachers ministry, right in the middle of a very serious lockdown in my country, the whole word was thrown into confusion and torrents of Gods word in season came. I'm a preacher and Christian counselor myself and as with anyone thirsty for God, you find yourself moving a whole lot from church to church like you're looking for something you can't find. It was as if I found so many answers in one go from this man of God, over 70 years of walking with God, much more experience and knowledge of God than you will find around these days. He has helped me to simplify the way many of us make serving God complex, its all boils down to a relationship. This book is so good, I'm reading it slowly, just soaking up years of experience and my prayer life has taken a new dimension. When we get to the place where prayer is truly a conversion with a loving Father that we can not fully comprehend, everything changes. We are not shouting nor whispering to a divine being that we hope hears us and may give us one or two of our long list of requests whenever He's in a good mood, but a loving Father who is yearning for a relationship with us so He can guide us to the very best we can have in life, beyond our needs or what we think we need to make us happy, but having a conversation that will always leave us properly guided to get the very best. Prayer has taken a totally different dimension, if you're like me and you have spent years screaming your requests at God shouting as if we need to shout because He's so far away, this is the book for you. In my entire life I don't think I've ever had so many prayers answered ever so quickly, and so many prayer points discarded simply because from having a conversation I found out it was not His will.

This book is an absolute blessing from God. When you read it, you grow more deeper in the understanding of who God is and when you start to understand it it opens your mind and heart and your view of God moves to a next level where you can spend hours in quite time with God, praying, meditating and wondering how marvelous, wonderful, great and awesome God He is. You will give many thanks to God of who He is.
